Nashville Commissary

I want to help catapult the food truck/cart scene here in Nashville and am in the process of starting a shared commissary for folks rent out.  I myself was thinking of starting a food cart and ran into this commissary road block.  Instead of letting it stop me, I have decided to build a commissary and share it with others!  What I am trying to determine is location...I live in East Nashville and have looked for space in this part of town, but want to hear from all of you as to where the "best" and most convenient location would be.  I would appreciate any comments you all have.  I look forward to serving all of you truck and cart owners and hopefully take the hassle out of locating a commissary for future cart/truck owners.

Thanks!!

Hi foodie2007, I don't know Nashville, but I would think a major consideration for vendors would be the cost, and if the commissary is convenient. The commissary I use is very convenient, but very expensive. BTW, how much do you intend to charge the vendors?

I want to keep it under $200/mo because I understand people may be getting started and budgets are tight.  Depending on the final location and interest level, I may be able to offer it at a better price.  Thanks for your feedback...it is MUCH appreciated!!

I live in Nashville and have ran into the same problems locating a commissary at a reasonable price. A shared commissary is a great idea and I would love to hear more from you if you decide to take this path in opening one. Please keep us posted.

How is this coming along? I am ready for this to happen and would love to see the space near downtown. Had any luck or need any help?
I am checking a few properties out as potential locations for a commissary and in order to facilitate opening a location near downtown Nashville, I would need about a dozen clients willing to use it. How many folks would be interested if the cost per month was around foodie2007 prices, $200/mo?

Hi, I am a caterer and have decided to expand into the food cart/truck business. I am taking action to open a commissary to provide a location for our business to operate and market this art, much like what has been going on out west for quite some time.  I am looking for vendors who are in need of this service and I have legal backing to help the cause of expanding the mobile restuarnture as the legitimate and artistic form of food service that it is. I would be delighted if you or other vendors with whom you are familiar, would contact me to secure this funding and our place in the community. I do need a quick reply as the investor has a meeting planned for this weekend. Sooo sorry for such short notice but since I have been working on this, things are happening faster than I anitcipated. Please contact me with your support asap!
    Thank you and TRUCK ON!

    My number is 615-333-7034
    email:
The investor is looking to open another restaurante but is open to the commissary idea. I will be presenting on Sunday. I hope everyone is interested and will send me an email expressing interest in a location near downtown Nashville.

It will be equipped with a stainless steel prep table/area, Refriderators/Walk-in cooler, Mop/Stainless steel sinks, gray water tank disposal/refill station, cart wash area, indoor cart parking overnight, deticated parking spaces. We are doing month by month rental. Depending on the number of interested parties, I hope to keep the rates around $200-250/mo. per foodie2007 discussion.

    Please send any further suggestions.

Success! I have secured several spots for us at the Pad Thai Kitchen in East Nashville of Gallatin Road. She has agreed to the $200-$250/mo. rate suggested by foodie2007. Send me a message if you are interested. I will be managing the cart vendor booking as well as obtaining the Commissary permit at my own expense. We hope to find many of you interested!

    Marlenamania,

How many spots were you able to secure? Are there any spots open? I will be launching a truck in the next month or so and wanted to touch base regarding the commissary you have set up.
