Nashville hot chicken at home?

I'm intrigued by this Hot Chicken I've heard about in Nashville. I'd like to approximate the recipe, only I can't find any recipes. I understand it's hot. but what else is in it? anybody?

it's apparently a closely guarded secret. I think it is easier to get enriched Uranium than find a hot chicken recipe.

I've never had Nashville hot chicken (yet),-it's on my to-do list, so I have no idea how it's made. But I did come across this recipe that I'm going to try as I love hot. It's from the Jay's site. Their Hot Stuff chips are hot but I imagine any "hot" flavored chip should work.

    Ingredients:

    1 stick melted butter

    1 teaspoon garlic powder

3 cups crushed JAYS HOT STUFF POTATO CHIPS
    1 whole fryer chicken pieces

Mix garlic powder in melted butter.

Coat chicken pieces in melted butter and garlic. Then dip chicken in crushed chips. Bake chicken pieces in a casserole dish on 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

I found a recipe on the LTHForum sit from Chicago that claims to have reverse-engineered something close to the prince's recipe. it calls for salt, pepper, garlic powder, cayenne, habanero, and jalapeno powders, as well as chilis in the oil and turbinado sugar sprinkled on the fried chicken along with the rub containing the powders. I guess it's gonna take some experimentation to get the amounts right.

America's Test Kitchen's offshoot, Cook's Country went to Prince's and of course failed to get their recipe. They too reverse engineered it but because chief honcho Christopher Kimball has such a delicate stomach, they made the very mild version. They do mention how make it authentic in the video (triple the cayenne).
