I will be trying to find a way to celebrate such an important day with a slice.

As for the list, some of those places really are very good.  A few others.....  not so much.

I can personally vouch for the two Chicago venues listed...both on my A list!  Also, would love to try the Georgie Pie listed in one of the ads!

I just called Henry's.  Today they have:  cherry, strawberry rhubarb, apple, peach, chocolate, coconut cream, banana cream, peanut butter and custard.  Looks like we'll be heading to West Jefferson this afternoon!

I like Pi's and I like Guacamole but I think I'll pass on the Guacamole Fried Pi!
Warm Guacamole just doesn't sound right.

Whoopeeeeee! We're going to Henry's. OK, so banana cream is a definite. But I've never had peanut butter pie. If it's not crunchy peanut butter I'm getting a slice. If it is, chocolate's the one to follow the banana cream. I wonder whether they have liver and onions today.

The only one of those I've been to is Petsi's in Somerville, MA.  It was in 2004 when I was a visiting professor at a law school in Boston for one semester.  Petsi (pronounced "Pete-see") herself was there that day.  She makes a terrific cherry pie!

We went to Henry's!  MH had the chocolate, I had the coconut cream then we split a piece of cherry.  All were truly excellent.  We got a piece of strawberry rhubarb to go for my Mother.  We arrived around 1PM and she was already out of banana cream and peanut butter pies!

I went to our local bakery today for a couple of hot cinnamon rolls. When she returned with my order she asked what kind of pie I wanted! She told me all "regulars" get a pie today. Good to be regular...oh yeah, lemon meringue.

Lemon meringue is my favorite of all pies.  The times we have been to Henry's she has never had lemon meringue.  Hmmmm.......I know if I call ahead I could get her to make me one.
And oh, yeah, it's always good to be a "regular"!

Pancho - What is your local bakery? I think I'll shop there next time I'm in Madison. I appreciate the way they treat their regulars.

p.s. Did you get to stop at Stephenson's or Sunny Sky's? I stopped for ice cream on opening day.

Lane's Bakery...they are a local institution. No, we never got north of Myrtle...ended up going to TW Graham's twice down in McClellanville, SC.

Made a chocolate pecan chess pie in honor of National Pi Day.  It's not the most beautiful pie, but it's definitely a tasty one.
