Need a glaze for smoked ham

I want to smoke a ham on my smoker this weekend. I will use a smoked ham from my local grocer that I want to glaze and place in my smoker for a few hours. I am looking for a glaze that will form a nice crust on the ham and taste great. Please suggest some glaze recipes that will really impress my guests. I would also like any cooking suggestions that you may have.

Bobs, I don't have any suggestions, but I'd like to know where you've been? We haven't heard from you in too long!

    I just wing it.
A mix of honey, brown sugar, mustard, soy sauce or terriaki or the like.
One time I had a large container of sweet and sour sauce leftover from Chineese take out. I chopped up some marishino cherrys and added, worked great.
Apply the last 20 min. of cooking to carmelize then wrap in foil and let it rest. Chow Jim

I found this with a google. I never tried it, but it sounds very interesting.

The best ham glaze I ever had was by Alton Brown, Food Channel, Good Eats. Sounds weird, but it's wonderful. You partly bake a ham, scoring it first. Then you brush on dijon mustard. Press on very dark brown sugar, spritz with Bourbon, then press on finely grated gingersnap cookies. Continue baking for an hour or so. This has the most amazing taste and we don't even like gingersnaps. You can find the recipe at food.com.

Poverty Pete - I appreciate your concern. Last Fall I had a benign brain tumor removed. I recovered well but it has taken me awhile to get back in the normal swing of things. I am anxious to get more involved and participate on this web site.

Score the ham, honey, brown sugar, poupon mustard, soy sauce, worstershire, cloves pushed in all over the ham, glaze it, smoke away, while drinking many beers!

I don't know what flavors you might like, but making a glaze is easy. Just use honey, any of your favorite jelly. Maybe add some soy or teriyaki or Worcestershire sauce to your liking. A little vinegar if want a sweet/sour taste. Heat & mix on the stove, add water to thin.

Honey & apple;.. Honey & peach (this could be real good)

PS: You don't have to use honey. You can use corn syrup or a table syrup.

I know this sounds "corny" but my mother (who is 83) uses Mrs. Butterworth's maple syrup. Works great on ham.

This one is always a hit whenever I make it during the holidays.

    Glazing Sauce:

    ½ cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup (use dark grade B real maple syrup if available)
    1/4 cup honey
    2 T cider vinegar
    1 to 2 T Worcestershire sauce
    2 T instant coffee granules
    1 T dry ground mustard
    2 T orange juice concentrate

Blend all ingredients in a sauce pan with a wire whip and heat slightly until everything combines.
