Need help for event Sat, 12/29/07 2:11 PM (permalink)
I'm on a roll today.

I have an event coming up that I will be the only vendor there.

It's a bike rally that will start on Friday evening and end Sunday around 2:00 pm. Most everyone camps for the event and there isn't a restaurant for 20 miles.

I'll be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Has anyone here done these before?

How many people per 100 people should I expect to serve?

People will have RV's and grills and such and I'm trying to figure how much food to take.

Thanks

I suspect the quality of your offering will have an effect on that.

Boy Howdy that's a hard one to answer. I did an event 2 years ago with 23,000 campers for a week. I increased the amount of food I cooked every day two fold and still ran out every day. LOL I still suspect it was just word of mouth kept spreading and they kept showing up. Some ate two meals with me every day. What is the total crowd size expected to attend? And what is the average age? Are they family's, or singles or mixed? Will they bring motor homes or tents? I'd bet on 30%. If your food is good, more and if your location is convenient more yet. But what will be most difficult is the three meals a day not enough time to prep so you will need plenty of help.

This isn't a big event. I'm expecting 300-700 as of right now. I will get a better estimate closer to the rally. The good thing is that I'm the ONLY vendor.

Most will be camping(some RV, some tents), some will just come for saturday.

The crowd will all be all over 18, mostly over 21. Lots of beer drinking.

So be prepared for a late night surge and I'd arrange for an ice company to deliver an ice storage box full of ice and sell the heck out of ice as well as food.

I do three rally's a year and It's all we can do to handle the business. Make sure you plan to stay late. We open a 6am and close at 2am. Have plenty of coffee for the mornings. The drunker they get the more you'll sell. Take the Dr.'s advice and sell ice and sell it at a high price don't give it away. Also if you your willing to sell cigarettes they will buy them. We sell 15 to 20 cartons during a rally mainly Sat. night and Sunday morning. Good luck and be safe

I was wondering if a licence was required to sell tobacco? I knew a guy that sold them at a flea market and kepr them out of sight due to some legsl issuee.
                  Sounds like fun, good luck

If I was you, I'd bring a couple of big boxes of Alka Seltzer and sell the individual packets.
