New BBQ Find In West TN.-PIG-N-OUT

I often report on bbq eateries in West TN. and prefer to seek out mom amd pop locations outside of Memphis. During a drive yesterday with my brother we came across PIG-N-OUT in Dyersburg.This is north of Memphis off of Highway 51 N. The restaurant is a nice off the main drag place that does a great job. We had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw and sauce, a half slab of ribs , potato salad and beans. THe sandwich and ribs were very good and could compete with most bbq joints in the area. The beans were GREAT and the potato salad was also VERY GOOD. The atmosphere was pleasant with a lot of BBQ related items on display. The manager (owner)? was extremely friendly as was the entire staff. This is the kind of place that is a comfortable and makes you feel at home. If you are heading north from Memphis you could easily stop here. They also have a location in Halls whih is a little south of Dyersburg.

Thanks Bob ! The comments are in correct location now! We noticed a bunch of BBQ places on Rt 51 as we headed down to Austin in February. Guess we'll have to make time for a stop over that way !

Hey Bobs! How does this compare to the smoke house in Lexington?

Oneiron- I classify Hayes in the elite group and can only think of two or three in that category. This bbq shack was very good but not elite.

Right on Al. Hayes exceed not only in taste, quality but cleanliness and salesmanship. They did it all. We ask and they delivered not only with being friendly but the tour.

When you have a place like Hayes in the area - you don't want to go anywhere else -unless they're not open when you want a BBQ fix.
