Arnie, Sounds like you have some pretty good feedback, and far be it for me to add anything since I am not a professional, but merely a consumer. I do like your style and enthusiam; you have a very energetic positive receptive approach that is endearing and will take you a long way, and I wish you well/all the best. My kids are grown, BUT I would have loved to had the opportunity to take my girls, and dragging hubby (who never loved hot dogs) along for a great Chicago style dog! As a new grandma, my question is, when will you extend your positive personal style, and great hot dogs out to CA!? Great and Hot Diggity Dawg! Keep us posted.....

Arnie I like the idea of your logo. The first thing I thought of was (joking) He sells vienna sausage in a bun (the little dawgs in buns) but that is my warped sense of humor Actually the first thing I thought of was the cartoon "Family Circus" and the font they use http://www.familycircus.com/ I have worked on several projects involving characters, one thing to consider in your design is # of colors, each color you add is more $$$$ spent driving the finished project cost UP and UP. also for reproduction you dont want it wiht too many fine details (these get lost when reducing size) I do like your concept and it will look even better in color. You need that "hook line" at the bottom keep thinking about it, think of what you want to get across ie quality? family value? fun? Think of what direction you want your hookline to be then think of how you get to that point

"....where you can let your kids run around...." Don't be silly! There's a long thread somewhere here where kids ran around, broke an antique tip or candy jar and the headaches that ensued for the owner. Most people don't want to eat where kids run amok, screaming and bumping into things, unless that's the only clientele you want to be serving. That's my 4 cents. Undecided about the logo for now. Just don't use green. Red makes people want to eat meat.

Well, for now it's a simple little hot dog cart with big dreams! I have to master the present before I can tackle the future. You guys have been a lot of help. When I get my logo completed I'll post it up. I'm pretty sure I came up with my tagline tonight. I'm going to sit on it and see if anything else pops into my head.I also have an idea about getting some "Dawg Tags" printed up with "Free Dawg" on one side and "The Family Dawg" on the other. Thinking about handing them out to the school to give to the kids as a reward or giving them out to local businesses along with my menu to get me rolling. I'd rather give a hundred bucks worth of free food away then pay for advertising in the local paper. I know Dairy Queen is always passing out free ice cream tokens and when my kids get ahold of them, I end up spending 20 bucks there. This is fun! Arnie

Arnie for the tokens yo might try wooden nickles http://www.wooden-nickel.com/ I have used this company several times for their wooden nickels for various projects/events They seem to be the lowest price $145/1100 nickels = custom logo/single color/two side print You can use these as your giveaways for the kids @ school or other various places you can pass them out at like major street fairs/carnivals just a thought

Updated: I'm still working on the fonts. Going to try a couple different ones. My tag line serves a dual purpose. Relish the moment you bite into one of my dogs and Relish the "moment" with your loved ones. What do you think? Thanks Arnie

With all of those Lil Smokies in the picture you may want to consider leaving her alone every now and then!

Well, it looks much better in color. The green was not good. I still do not like it, as an advertising tool. As a parent, you think it is cute. Consider those poor kids. There will come a time when those boys get a little older and they will be subject to alot of relentless teasing, from other kids. Kids can be cruel and it happens EVERYWHERE. I would not think it was funny or fair for them.

I like the border you added. The only thing I would change is I would make the border red instead of orange. I like the red's and yellow's but then again my design is as basic as it gets. Good job.

quote: No Darlin', I do not. This is business. It has nothing to do with Arnie or his family, personally. I think Arnie is a very nice guy, and I have respect for him as a person and businessman. I think he is truly blessed, with a lovely family. This is what happens when you toss an advertising idea around, and look for feedback. Money & thought are invested into advestising and the objective is for a logo to stand the test of time. The majority of folks love it, and I agree that it is fun, and very cute. A few are devil's advocates . Arnie asked for honest feedback, not kudos. Sometimes feedback is not about how fun and cute it is, but what it might lack, and what could happen in the future to cause you to shift gears. It is not about being negative, it is about shedding light on considerations that do not get mentioned. Arnie has taken ALL things into consideration. I respect the fact that he welcomed all views, in his final decision, with professionalism and graciousness. I may not agree with his decision or logo, but I wish him all the best.

CCinNJ, excellent comments. With regards to the race comment, the logo is not a problem if your looking at it on the side of Arnie's cart, and it may be a great conversation starter, which can only help the business. But building on the purpose of a logo as mentioned by CCinNJ, it probably wouldn't go over well if viewed in a ad or on marketing material, especially in a diverse area or for a national brand. I can tell you that many people are very sensitive and observant as to their inclusion or exclusion in advertising and how they are represented. Based on Arnie's comments, he's in a small town where word of mouth is king, so he should not have a problem. Based on his posts and his situation, I like the logo and love the tag line. Good luck!

all I see is a happy family selling happy hot dogs, why is everyone reading so much into it? when he is ready to franchise then a more formal logo can be made. for now let him have some fun with it.
