I think the opening of that one on South Ave is the best idea ever. I was elated months ago when driving by I saw the start of the infamous "castle" outline I haven't been to that one yet. I usually just go to the one on 22 in greenbrook

Plus, I'd miss the White Castle experience. I made sliders at home - in fact, I made some this past weekend. But, yeah, I've seen them in the frozen food section in a couple grocery stores in VA. I haven't seen them in DC. You have a point half the enjoyment is the experience of going there Does the frozen version do the restaurant version justice? Not even close. Sadly, the last White Castle in Kansas City closed several years ago - Even though the White Castle chain was started in Wichita, KS, we don't have any in the State - the closest ones are in the St. Louis area.

Not only have I not eaten at those places, I've never heard of them! Don't be too anxious to eat at the White Castle imitation. We have White Castle's in the Midwest and they go by another name, Gutbombs. Seriously, it takes my gut a minimum of 24 hours to get back to normal. I torture myself about once a year and always say the same thing: Never again. You are lucky to live in San Antonio. I've visited a few times and get the impression of wonderful food, decently priced and readily available. Don't get excited about these flukes coming to town. Now go to Shilo's and get a reuben for me!
