New Device for Fast Food Industry to make order completion easier!

Idea for a device to speed up the time it takes the sandwich maker to complete orders. It would be a sensor worn on the thumb and pinky finger of the employee reading the order screen and making sandwiches. they would have an earpiece connected to a central computer. The computer would audibly indicate what to make next, and upon completing that piece of the order, the worker would touch pinky to thumb (this is because ordinarily those fingers would never make contact). The computer would then read off the next item to be prepared by the employee. This would eliminate the need for an employee to have to look up at a monitor in order to know what to prepare next.

What would you have to click together to go back?

Just in case you do not hear it the first time.

Maybe the computer would repeat the item to be made every 5 seconds

I can understand where this would perhaps help the employee who is partially blind or a slow reader, but wouldn't it be necessary to have the computer program in a variety of dialects and/or languages (programmed to the individual employee) so that they could quickly and easily understand what the computer was saying?  I have come across enough problems communicating with an employee over a drive-thru speaker system (including many errors), that I think verbal communication with the sandwich maker is probably not the way to go.  And if this was just to be in addition to the monitor, it would probably just be a waste of money, since the employee would probably still glance up at the monitor if he wasn't sure of exactly what he had heard.

It might actually slow down the process. Make enough sandwiches and you develop muscle memory and a  quick rhythm. A direct process...like typing without having to look at the keys very often because they are all in the same place...or writing without spelling the words out in your mind.

thmb and pinky finger? that's not very comfortable. And wires?

I dunno, though, maybe it's because it's the end of the day on Friday, but I got lost half way through that explanation and had to re-read it a few times to get the gist.
