Was anyone here at Roafdood.com consulted during the making of this show, Road Tasted? Definitely sounds like there would be vast experience to tap here.

Curious in MI,

yeah...and don't you find it interesting that they are billing themselves as the "Deen boys"...talk about riding on someone elses shirttails....but hopefully it will be a good show, with some new finds......and not just ads for the "known" restaurants.

Has this show aired yet? I thought it wasn't coming until later this summer.

And why shouldn't they take advantage of their mother's name? They've been involved with her business since she was making bag lunches in the beginning!

I am excited to see it as I do really love their mother's show. As for the shirtail riding, I dont have a problem with it. They are just gettign into the celebrity side of it, but her restaurant was always called "the Lady and Sons" not just Paula Deen. They are a part of her world and they should be proud of their name.

If ya got it, and you earned it, use it.

I think it's a fantastic idea! I much rather watch the "Deen Brothers" than the "Hardy Boys"!!!!! I will tune in.

IS this going to be another FoodTV corporate advertisement. The channel is becoming terrible boring with all the "Unwrapped" type episodes and Rachel Ray's phoney shtick getting more and more top billing. Since they took of the original "Iron Chef," I hardly watch it. . . "Iron Chef America" just doesn't cut it after watching so much of Sakia, Chen Kenichi, Morimoto, and Co.

Why didn't they just give such a show to the Stearns?!

I was just going to post this topic but you beat me to it. I think it will be a great show. The Deen brothers have great personalities.

Instead of the Man Show they could call it The Mamas Boy Show.

If the sons are a fraction as annoying as the mother, this show will be a must to avoid.

Geez, I hate Unwrapped. Mark Summers is one of the most annoying people in the solar system.

I'm pretty tired of Rachel, and I miss the original Iron Chefs. I refuse to watch the new one as I loathe Snobby Flake.

Have you guys been watching "No Reservations" on Discovery Travel?

Give Paula her due for creating an image and marketing her products the way she does using that image. I am a fan of her shows.

The Boys??? It is hard to get a real picture of them in the 'supporting MaMa' roles they have had up to now. I read that one of them runs Lady and Sons...but is that for real (running it) or as the family figurehead at the top of the chart while someone else actually does the work? I AM NOT saying that it is, just would like a better idea of the real role of the Sons in the family business.

I will watch the new show a bit and see if they establish themselves, or sham-act a role some TV hype creates. Has anyone reviewed Paula's brother's (Bubba) Seafood place? I have seen it on several of her programs, but haven't read an objective review of the place yet.

Rachel used to do a lot of her own stuff...but I think she has surrendered to her own 'self-image' in the quest to gain the "top of the TV food-chain" status.

Agreed Pwing. What about that goofball on "Top 5." I vote him almost as annoying.
Yea, Snobby Flake (good one) is impossible for me to watch. Mario is lamost as bad with his idiotic attire and like arrogance.

Yes, I watch Tony Bourdain on Travel. He is definitely a man's cook. He never fails to entertain. . . I mean, who would YOU rather have dinner with, the yuppie crew on FoodTV or Tony?

Actually, I would have dinner with the Giada DeLaurentis (a part of that "yuppie crew") over Bourdain any day of the week.

I'll give the Deen Brothers a shot. Paula worked very hard to have what she has today and I think she's an excellent home-style cook. As far as the rest of the characters, I'm pretty much sick of all of them except Alton Brown and Emeril. I admire Emeril for his high level of energy and let's face it, the guy can cook! I've never eaten at any of his restaurants, heard mixed reviews, but I do like the show.

I love Paula Deen, bless her heart...who else in this day and age cooks and enjoys food with such wonderful abandon, especially dishes laden with butter and mayonnaise? She is the best in my book.
Like lleechef, I really can't deal with the rest of the Foodnetwork crew, apart from Alton and deLaurentis. I guess I have never understood the fascination with Emeril; his shows seem to be populated with sycophants who scream everytime he adds garlic or hot pepper to a dish (it's not gold leaf, folks!), and I really find his method of cooking a little off. I'm not one who screams for subtlety and refinement all the time, but he always seems to be dumping handfuls of spices in his food, without a sense of what constitutes appropriate amounts. I also have to add that whenever someone has cooked an Emeril recipe, I have been a little underwhelmed.

Gee.......I never really paid much attention to her head. Her big smile and her......knife. Well, she does cook and look good.

I don't watch Food Network folks much except for Alton Brown, Tyler Florence, Paula and sometimes Emeril....however, I am a huge fan of Tony Bourdain on the Travel Channel.

Am reading Kitchen Confidential (I guess it's his 3rd book) and have been very entertained and enlightened as to what's really happening in the chef's world of the kitchen!

Tyler and Alton are my favorites.
Emeril uses too much garlic. (), and Tyler.. mmm, I just like to look at him, plus he has the best real homestlye dumplings.
Paula is so cool. she reminds me of my mom's cooking, (doesnt look like her thoug), but the love she puts into every dish just oozes.."I will taste GREAT"!
Let the boys carry on. I would be proud to follow in her footsteps!

boy I really lit a fire here...ok..I too am going to watch it because I am a food network junkie...for most shows...and I think Paula is great...considering what she's gone through and what she has become...
Her recipes are great and easy...I made her corn casselrole the other night and got rave reviews...

I like some of the shows that are created in Canada..like Restaurant Makeover...also, I like Recipe for Success...when I get really sick of the shtick...on a Saturday...I tune into PBS and watch Ming Tsai and some of the other shows that are on.....much more focused on the food than the hoopla and the tablescape...etc....

I'll watch it. They have been on their mother's show many times and it's fun to watch her interaction with them. I guess only time will tell if they are able to stand on their own. I like Paula Deen and love her shows.

As for the rest of FoodNetwork. I like Rachel Ray. I think her bubbly personality is great and I think she's cute too. Alton Brown is great. The rest ... I can take sometimes, other times I change the channel.

I used to watch Tony Bourdain on Food Network. I read somewhere that he left FN and went to the Travel Channel because FN placed too many restrictions on him. For one, they were opposed to him smoking on camera. I now watch all his shows on TC. His books are a hoot too !

Who watched any of TOP CHEF???
Are you watching any of HELL"S KITCHEN 2??
Anyone reading any recent culinary Books like "Reach of a Chef" , "Heat", "Chew on THis"
or Julia Child's book on her life??

I loved that Harold won on Top Chef, we are lucky enough that my husband and I will get to meet some of those chefs at a culinary fund raiser on July 15th in Milan Ohio

Gordan Ramsey is just so fun to watch, the way he screams is just comical..as far as a winnning Chef..I just don't really see any one ready to become a head Chef in Vegas.

RIght now i'm reading Garlic and Sappfires by Ruth Rechiel now in paperback, much better than her previous books.

Love Bourdain on the travel channel and OPENING SOON on Fine living channel
I did enjoy the "chefographies" on the Food Channel a few months ago and i think Jamie Oliver should be "knighted" for all his work on improving children's lunches in the UK.

                                                    Bobby Flay is getting over-used.
Everyday Italian-seems real and she seems very nice
Paula Deen-tries too hard to be "Crazy, wild Paula"
Rachel ray-something is working for her for her own magazine and apprearences on Oprah

                                                    Well, that's my 2 cents

I admit that the OOOOHs and AHHHHHs on Emeril Live over garlic or hot pepper flakes or wine get a bit old, but at 11PM in Alaska it's better than watching The Andy Griffith Show or Gunsmoke!! I have never tried any of his recipes and sometimes cringe when he's plating something but his energy is phenominal.
