New National Chain

Arizona Pizza just opened its first store in Maryland. They are a Bertucci's wannabe but they should have stayed in Arizona. On second thought, Arizona deserves better than this. Crust was tasteless, sauce was lousy, even the cheese didn't taste right. Very disappointed and I generally like any kind of pizza.

hot wing pizza? BBQ pizza? Hawaiian? Mexican?

not my cup of tea. Neither is California Pizza Kitchen.

Hells Bells it looks like they're trying to corner the market on "white pizza", which has never been a favorite of mine. Just from looking at their menu, I doubt it will be a place I'll try. I'm not saying it's bad, because I don't know, but white pizza + Me = NO.

Yah, Scorereader I'm sure the clam pizza is good in New England, but would likely be wretched here in KY! I just found it interesting that their menu was mostly white pizza. When I order pizza, I generally want one with a red sauce. Sometimes keeping it simple is best, at least for me, and to me a well made pepperoni, green pepper, onion and olive pizza is a slice of heaven on earth.
I'm not saying white sauce is not good, but the red sauce is for moi!

You are right! The absolute worst pizza that I ever had was in Holland, Michigan (circa 1982). The pie was extremely heavy and absolutely tasteless. Yuck.

It is a very crowded market. If they are 1/2 as bad as bad as cdm4 says they are, they will not get far. Thinking of chains, is Pantera's still around? A local guy lost a ton with that franchise maybe 20 years ago, and it was fairly good for a chain.

Their press indicates that they started in Lenox, in the Berkshires of Mass. With the NYC - Boston - Connecticut influences they MIGHT know something about pizza.

But I wouldn't count on it. Sounds like a hybrid of Cali Pizza Kitchen and Bertuccis, named after the only place that may be more legendary for bad pizza than California.

Maybe the time is ripe to open a Providence Tacos in Scottsdale. Or a chain of Gloucester BBQs in Southern airports.
