Have you ever been before Mike S?
We bought our tickets for the crab boil last week. Found out yesterday that we need to take our daughter with us to NOLA.
Will definitely be getting a babysitter Saturday night. We get to experience a more kid friendly New Orleans this time.

I looked at the hotels on the website. I have stayed in both of them, and cannot recommend the Hotel Monteleone. I do recommend the Bienville House. It is very charming with a lot of antiques, almost to the point of looking haunted.

We have already booked flights and made reservations at the Monteleone. What do you feel is wrong with it?

    Thanks.

NOTHING! Go and have a wonderful time. I've stayed at the Mont at least a dozen times. Also, the Bienville has tiny rooms and tends to be noisy. I stayed there one time.

For what it is worth, I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Monteleone in September 2011, when they were still in the midst of their renovations, but despite that, I found the service to be excellent, and the location is great.

Is there any news on the 2014 Foodfest in New Orleans?  Other than the original announcement, I haven't been able to learn anything more.
I have regretted being unable to attend Foodfest in previous years, but this year as soon as I received the announcement email I booked flights and reserved at the Monteleone.  Since the original announcement, however, I have heard nothing (including no response to my emails).
I would love to know if there will be a crawfish boil this year, plus any other news that might be available.
    Thanks.

We've stayed a few times at the Dauphine Orleans in the Quarter. By far my favourite hotel that we've stayed at. Great service, nice rooms and a good location. Close to Bourbon St., but not too close. Great staff, too!

The Dauphine is great....I stayed there when I first started going to NOLA. Lately, I've been staying here...I splurged last time and got the McCartney Suite (he stays there when he visits). It's also slightly less expensive than the Dauphine.

I wasn't necessarily recommending the Richelieu, just that I had stayed there. As I mentioned before, you will LOVE the Monteleone.

If enough food vendors show up on the street, you should be able to get a good mix of food.  But heck, you're in NOLA, good food is all around.

I went to the first event and saw no reason to go back.  Based on what I heard about last years event, I wouldn't count on the crawfish boil.

There won't be a crawfish boil this year. The big event (other than the street eats Friday and Saturday) is the Friday night kickoff party at Cafe Reconcile, "America's Hometown Sweets": http://www.roadfood.com/s...festival/kickoffparty/

Ordered tix for the Kickoff Party today.

We will be in NOLA for a week but withiut a vehicle. Hoping we can find a crawfish boil in town while there. Really loved one we had outside of town when we visited years ago and have been thinking of it fondly ever since.

There is a crawfish boil down at the Bayou Barn in Crown Point. (about 20 mi.) Located near Lafite State Park or something. Check out the info on the link. Have fun!
