You probably haven't tried the Camellia Grill's new French Quarter location (540 Chartres) because it's only been there a few months. If you crave a snack after 10 PM, consider it.
http://www.camelliagrill.net/ Have you eaten at Couchon and/or Herbsaint? I especially recommend Couchon for lunch:
http://www.cochonrestaurant.com/ Herbsaint is a little fancier and the food is more Creole to Couchon's Cajun but it's one of my favorite dinner places.
If you haven't tried the burgers (served with BAKED potato, not fries) at Port of Call, you should:
http://portofcallnola.com/ Not many people think Cuban in New Orleans, but in fact Liborio in the CBD (just a short walk from the Quarter) is really good:
http://www.liboriocuban.com/ Try the ropa vieja (or anything else on the menu).
They don't think Italian either, but another of my favorite places is Irene's Cuisine which is sort of Italian-Creole fusion:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/irenes-cuisine-new-orleans They don't take reservations so, if you don't want to wait a LONG time, get there about 1/2 hour before they open (5:30 I think, but check) and be among those to get a table right away at opening.
Just in case you've never had a muffaletta from Central Grocery (which claims to have invented them), do yourself a favor and get one (better yet, split one 'cause a whole one is really a BIG meal):
http://www.yelp.com/biz/c...grocery-co-new-orleans Another recommended lunch (or dinner but I preferit for lunch when it's packed with business types) spot in the CBD is the Bon Ton Cafe:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/c...grocery-co-new-orleans Cajun/Creole standards, heavy on the seafood, done really well.
