Looks like this summer will be my introduction to hot dog vending. Got a cart, and a few locations picked out here in Providence, RI. Just waiting for my Food Management Certification to come through then its on to permits.

Anyone else from RI? I dont want to move in on someone elses spot or have unneccesary compition without knowing it.

Otherwise I just wanted to introduce myself to the group.

Let me know when you settle in. I'm from MA and love to do a road trip. Did you get your cart from CMS in CT?

Its a used cart actually, small but its in great condition. I'll let you know when I get set up and going. That way if you do come down and mention RoadFood.com I'll comp your first order.

I'm trying out several hot dog brands this week trying to determine which I'll ultimately sell. I have a good distributor for Kayem Hot Dogs though this week will be the first time I've ever tried them. Anyone have a preference in vending, wether as a customer or vendor, for skinless or with a casing?

And thanks for the support guys.

If your hot dog vendor is not Restaurant Depot you should seriously look into their pricing. Its hard to beat there pricing. All Beef natural casing is the only hot dog I would buy or eat.

Hello there, I live in providence. Where were you thinking of setting up shop? Somewhere downcity?

As far as dogs go, definitely go with all beef. Selling a kosher dog would be a good thing too.
