Newbie With trailer electrical Questions

Hello All Im new here but I have been following the forum for the past few weeks and what a great site for information. I like many others here are looking into getting into to the concession business ,I started out buying an old trailer that needed work, after getting it home I found out that it would be better to start from the trailer up so the rebuilding process begins. So my question is when im ready to start wiring the trailer what is the best wire to use? I thought of just running romex in the walls then thought about running flexible conduit in the walls. Im looking for what will pass inspection and what works best. My next question is,how do i set up the electrical panel inside the trailer to accept different amperage at different locations. currently the trailer had a 50 amp 2 breaker panel ,which has a 50 amp pig tail with a choice of 3 places where you could plug into, those outlets are 50 amp as well... one outlet set up with a extension cord to plug into a regular 120v outlet, the next set up with a 50 amp cord, and the last outlet came from the 6500 watt generator... So I understand how that set up works, but what I want to know is will it pass an inspection? Or is there a better way of setting the panel up... Im not positive on the equipment that I will be using at this point,I do know I should only need 120v ,but I would like to have it set up so I can be ready for anything that I may need.

First things first Welcome to RF. 2nd if you go to the top of the page you'll find the search box and it can be a great help, to prevent you from making mistakes others have made. You may need to read for awhile to find your current and future answers but I promise it will pay off. 3rd Check your local electrical inspectors requirements they may be less or more stringent than other areas or states, and advice found here. And if you follow those requirements (local) you'll not have to redo your original build which can be expensive. I'd advise you go see them in person rather than a phone call and ask for a copy of their requirements. 4th This you may take this to the bank install more service outlets than you can possible use because some day you'll use them I promise. LOL Good luck on your build, and future business Jack

I agree fully with the Doc. You will always use all the places to plug into available. In some areas your trailer will be treated as a motor vehicle - so no building inspection other than a fire marshall and the Health dept. It may be up to you so make good friends with a qualified electrician. I treated my trailer like it was a home when it came to electrical and followed all codes. I did all the rough wiring but hired a licensed electrician to put in the panel and the power supply cords to be sure it was done right and to code even though no inspector was ever going to check it out.
