Newbie, just wanted to say thanks.

I have been in the resturant business for over 10 years, and am making the leap into the hot dog thing. I am not buying a cart or doing anything until I feel that I have learned all I can learn about this subject. This site is enormously helpful in learning the laws and the tips and tricks to the business. I am in Bowling Green, KY, but was born and raised in northern New Jersey. I love where I live now, but the food here really stinks and I'd like to bring the taste of a good, New York, Sabretts style, dirty water dog down here. Thanks for all the information.

Rick, Bowling Green has some really good local eateries (Judy's Castle on 31W Bypass and Murray's nearby are two examples), plus several decent BBQ places. The city just might be cosmopolitan enough for you to be able to sell New York dogs: I can't imagine that anyone else is doing it. Good luck. Let us know how you fare -- pun intended, of course! Unbluegrassily, Ort. Carlton in Not-Too-Distant Athens, Georgia. P. S. Try the local method of making corn bread: cooked on the grill. Wondrous!! Beats muffins all to pieces! P. P. S. I spent quite a bit of time in B. G. from 1985 until 1989. Nice town, that one.
