Newsweek's 101 Best Restaurants in the World.

Recently, Newsweek gathered numerous chef's from around the world to make a list of the 101 Best Restaurants in the world. While some of them were 5 star places, there were Food Trucks, Carts, Street Food, Food cooked on someone's porch; all sorts of places. The common denominator was just plain good food.
For example:
City Market Luling, TX - (BBQ) Here's Michael Sterns Review - http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Review/583-583/city-market
Franny's, Brooklyn, NY - (Pizza) www.frannysbrooklyn.com
Husk Charleston, SC - (Pigs Ear lettuce Wraps) http://huskrestaurant.com/
Farmshop Santa Monica, CA - (Burrata & Fruit) http://farmshopla.com/
Momofuku Noodle Bar NY, NY - (Pork Belly Ramen) - http://www.momofuku.com/restaurants/noodle-bar/
Osteria Philadelphia, PA - (Fresh Pasta) http://www.osteriaphilly.com/
Anthony Bourdain Recommends the taco Bars in Ensenada, Baja, Mexico
So, you see you don't need go to a 5 star place to have good food.
However, if you're in Paris and looking for Black Truffles:

    Only 2- Daniel and Momofuku.

I've been to Daniel twice, and both times were absolutely breathtaking.  Every detail was perfect.  I also had the honor once to have a meal that Daniel Boulud personally prepared at a private dinner.  That was one of the most unforgettable meals of my life.

I used to go to Momofuku Noodle Bar once a week (in the cold months) for the ramen bowls.  DAMN I miss living in the city.

I've been to Osteria. It's a little ironic that it made the list because it's generally not considered to be the best of Vetri's (the owner and arguably the best chef in Philadelphia) restaurants. His self-titled Vetri should be on there. I've never had comparable pasta anywhere else.

    None in the US!
But I've been to the Walking Street Night Market in Chiang Mai, Thailand and to Borough Market in London.
