Some friends of mine are visiting me this week, first in Milwaukee (where I live) and then we'll head to Chicago for a couple of days. On Saturday we'll be doing a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright home/studio in Oak Park, but we may want to grab breakfast in the area beforehand or lunch afterward. Any recs? A search on this forum doesn't yield much specific to the Oak Park area--a burger joint, a bakery, and such. I should probably send a shout out to my friends in The Contingent, but figured I'd throw the net generally, too. Thanks for your help!

The Depot American Diner is a genuine Roadfood stop that I discovered a few years ago.  Been there a few times, highly recommend. Check out the Triple D video and be sure to eat at the counter to watch the food being cooked. If you're on the west side, near Oak Park and miss this one, "you'll be sorry."

Depot Diner is yet another excellent rec.

Thanks, folks, for all of your recommendations--here and in various PMs. We wound up going to the Depot American Diner for breakfast, and the sausage gravy with biscuits (and poached eggs) was a big hit. After a couple of hours or three of Frank Lloyd Wright, we went to the Marion Street Cheese Market for a light lunch. The "Midwest Tour" cheese sampler really hit the spot. We didn't get a chance to go to Johnny's, Riviera Italian Foods, or any of the other places recommended, but I hope to go back to the Oak Park area this summer and do kind of a daytrip food tour. Perhaps other Roadfooders will be interested in joining in?
            Anyhow, thanks for the recs!
