Well it has been a long road but we passed out healt dept. inspection today and have all of our permits. "The Dawg Pound" is in business!!

I'll take 3 with Chili Mustard and onions! Post some pics, let's see what the new roadfood shack looks like!

Well for right now my wife is going to run the cart. If all goes well I will quit my job and run our other cart at another location. I just dont want to give up my job just yet(even though I hate it).

We are selling dirty water kayem hot dogs and grilled Zweigle's White Hots and Zweigle's Italian Sausages.

Well we setup on Friday and I have to say it went pretty well. We had decent sales and alot of great customers. Several came back for seconds and we had one guy come back 3 times for the zweigles italian sausage.All in all it was a good day.Then we had thunderstorms all day Saturday so we couldnt set up.

Ohman, some of our best sales days are the rainy ones. We set up a 10X10 EZ-UP sunshade over the cart and conduct business as usual. If you want to keep your customers dry, EZ-UP makes a nice 10X20 sunshade. Check your local Sam's Club or Costco for their sun shades.

I was planning on buying some type of shelter like that. It was the lightning that kept us in though...LOL

Where will you be on week-ends? I'd like to check it out (from Springfield) but my week days are full.

Hillbilly we are looking for a spot for the weekends. I have not really found a spot that is worth setting up yet. I will keep you posted though

Congratulations.....But there is a problem here. I guess this is my first gripe with the Road Food Site. But there is a big injustice here and it needs to be corrected. It's very simple, This Guy opens a Hot Dog Stand and he has to have the Title "Junior Burger" what a slap in the face to the poor guy. My suggestion is a one time only title change for this guy. He can start as "Vienna Sausage" after enough posts he can be a "Hot Dog" even more posts he can become a "Foot Long" then a "Chili Foot Long" then a "Chili Cheese Dog" etc., etc.! I hope I am not alone on this one. Let the powers to be vote yea or neigh?

BigGlenn, can you make it to the Trigg County Country Ham Festival? I'd like to meet the guy who makes me chuckle more than anybody else on this site.

I admit it's a good idea... It's crossed my mind also in the past. Pick your favorite food item, such as a meat as roadfood uses, hot dog as you suggested or even something mexican (start out as refried beans, work your way to a taco, tostada, dry burrito, wet burrito, etc..)... Good Suggestion!

Congratulations on your new venture. I don't have a cart yet. I do my business under a 10x10 EZ-UP with a stainless steel grill. May you have a day like my last Thursday. I first ran out of Chili for my Chili Cheese Delight, Then I ran out of Kraut, Then I ran out of Buns, (had 150 along) then as I was tearing down people were buying a dog in napkin for 50¢ each. I just bought a 12v ref. to keep dogs in located in my car. I have a solar battery chgr. so battery wont go dead. All of the problems are being solved as time goes by. I have been in business about 2 months now. Am also looking for a Sat spot.

Cowboy Bob, I use Igloo 150 quart MaxCold ice chests to store product on site. I first super freeze 2-20 pound unopened bags of ice, stack them in the cooler, and surround the ice with bags of hot dogs. Each cooler holds approximately 400 dogs and keeps the dogs at temperature without refreezing them. Igloo also makes smaller MaxCold chests. We use their products for condiments, soda, and water. Menard's, Sam's Club, and Restaurant Depot has the best prices for these coolers.
