Wow...what a surprise. Truth be told Olga's had gone down hill these lasy years...but like a coke and a McDonalds, even though you don't want them, you assume they'll always be there. Olga's was a stop for us goingto or coming from Philly. We often took home their famous cheescake. True, the place was getting hard to get into along that damn circle, and thus the customers dwindled.I hope the owners can fix things up...another piece of my childhood, but a memory now.
Can posters in the area keep us informed of news updates? Thanks.

Sure, I'll be glad to help out. I live in the AC area, and the story was on the local Philly news last night. Apparently, it's been the 2nd time the place has been closed.
The owner admitted he was behind on his taxes, and said he was struggling...(well, are'nt we all?!?)

Well, at least it's refreshing to see someone admitting to something. Too often no one ever takes the blame , hardly anyone admits guilt !

I live right down the road from Olga's... it was closed a couple wks ago, just temporarily bc of pipe issues or something... I dont exactly remember. The place has looked horrible for quite some time. The only time I go there is to get my bday cake every yr... rich cream in between layers of heavy vanilla cake covered in a choc. ganache... oo heavens! :)

He wasn't being too forthcoming during the first closure in the beginning of the month when he posted a sign that said "CLOSED DUE TO GAS LEAK!" and it turned out he simply hadn't paid the bill.

In fact, it seemed pretty irresponsible, since the Fire Department was unaware of a 'gas leak' and it could of turned into a "false alarm" situation.

There was a mention in the Press of Atlantic City today...
says something about an agreement being worked out... that the owner will pay the $37,000 he owes, and the place is suppose to reopen

They still owe 191K to the township but it looks like they'll reopen:

I live about 10 minutes from Olga's in Voorhees, but I'll be perfectly honest with you...I haven't gone inside for years, and don't really follow what's happening with it. Depending upon which way I take to (or from) work, I do pass it some days on 73 (my day job is in Marlton). The only way I knew about the tax thing was because my second job involves delivering the Courier-Post and it was just screamed all over the front page. But I wasn't shocked or dismayed or anything about it.

For me, though, it's just a landmark, and I still do call that area "The Olga's Diner Circle", although that's not even its "official" unofficial name...http://marltoncircle.com

Olga's hasn't been a good place to dine for the last 10 or 15 years. The only good thing about it was the toast and sometimes the eggs. The coffee although always plentiful in self serve table pots, was mediocre.

No, it seems about the same. I never see more than 5 or so cars in the lot and I pass it about 3 times a day.

I think that that "see-and-be-seen" diner next to Pep Boys took their business; probably most of their regulars. And we won't go to the see-and-be-seen diner since they told us it was a 45 minute wait and we turned around and walked out. Believe me, there are plenty others in the area, thank G-d.

I live in Marlton and grew up around this area. I used to go to Olga's at least twice a weekend, after drinking etc. and am bummed that the quality is just no longer there. In its heyday it made the best omelettes, any breakfast, even full course dinners. Now it's just sad. I was surprised to hear that they reopened, because the business is just not there.

The Marlton diner is really good, not worth a 45 minute wait, but good. The problem is, its one of the only breakfast places around here, so everyone goes there. I will say however that they have the best Chicken Noodle soup I have ever had the pleasure of eating (or slurping)

I took my family to Olga's yesterday. The last time was twenty years ago with a friend from Tom's River (I live in Montreal now: I don't get down to south NJ that often).

We stuck to the specials. I had crab cake, which was very good; my wife had flounder which was ok; my son had ravioli with meatballs: the ravioli was great, the meatballs were sinkers. My daughter had a chicken with lemon-wine sauce that was ok.

What really struck me was the difference between then and now. A packed restaurant turned into a restaurant that was 10% full (We were there at lunch time on a Saturday). Ceiling tiles were stained by leaks. Splits in the naugahyde covered benches were repaired with silver duct tape. The toilets were clean but needed fixing up.

I told my kids that I was glad we had gone, because if we had gone in a year I didn't think it would still be there.

P.S. I think the Marlton Circle was a good location for a diner forty years ago when there wasn't as much traffic. Now it's a real pain to get out of Olga's parking lot. It took me three tries to get on the road I wanted. An overpass with full clover leaf would have been better. I don't know why the owners of Olga's are so opposed.
