Since we are in respect of the Reagan family this week, what is your favorite jelly belly flavor.

Mine is the buttered popcorn

In regular jelly beans, I like the purple ones the best.

      Emsmom -

I agree with you on the buttered popcorn jelly belly as being the best. Whodathunkit? I guess it's the sweet and savory at the same time thing that gets me.

Black jellybeans are my other favorite - my LEAST favorite is the Harry Potter fish-flavored jelly bean. Definitely one of the worst things I EVER put in my mouth! YUK.

I remember the "contest" this entity once had for "new flavors".
I submitted suggestions, but unfortunately , none were "approved"...

I'll eat any jelly beans except the white and black ones---banana doesn't do anything for me either.

Hey Lisa---don't forget the Harry Potter "vomit" Jelly Bean.

I like most of the Jelly Belly fruit flavors.

I just can't bring myself to like a jelly bean that tastes like another food. No disrespect, that's just me. I love biscuits & gravy, but I wouldn't want a jelly bean to taste like that.

After all, Michael Hoffman probably wouldn't like apizza-flavored jelly beans, CheeseWit probably wouldn't like cheesesteak-flavored jelly beans, ocdreamr probably wouldn't like crabcake-flavored jelly beans, MissKitty probably wouldn't like onion-flavored jelly beans, Mr. Mayor probably wouldn't like Maker's Mark-flavored jelly beans...no, wait, he probably would.

Let me also take the opportunity to state that the only flavor I detest more than cilantro is black liquorice.

emsmom, just teasing with ya, but I really do appreciate your starting a thread dedicated to The Gipper.

Let's not forget the Harry Potter jelly bean flavors of dirt, black pepper, grass, and ear wax. Who comes up with this stuff anyway?? (Probably someone who ate one too many of the "grass" jelly beans!!!!)

Definitely buttered popcorn! Tried the new "JBz" thingies.. couldn't distinguish what the flavours were supposed to be without a scorecard.. I thought they were yukky!

                          Dearfolk,
Shame, but they don't appear to make livermush jelly beans. But then again, Ronald Reagan wasn't from North Carolina.
Tonight, I'm in mourning for The Genius Of Soul: Ray Charles passed today at 73. Since I already live on the outskirts of town, I'm gonna Hit The Road, Jack and Go Get Stoned at Copper Creek Brewing in a minute. But not too badly. Promise.
My favorite recording by the man is his Atlantic album recorded in 1959 in Atlanta: Ray Charles In Person (ATLANTIC 8039, I think). It's on a CD now. Thing was recorded with one hand-held mike using a portable Wollensak tape recorder. Here's to Radio Station WAOK's engineering department!!
And here's to The Gipper, Brother Ray, and also to Bill Lowery, the impressario who put Atlanta on the music map with his publishing house. We lost them all right together. SALUTE (X 3) !!!!!
Bowingly, Ort. Carlton in Lovely Athens.
                          P. S. Now I gotta write another column. Keep watching www.flagpole.com for further developments.

Hey! I thought I was the only one who loved those buttered popcorn jelly bellies! Popcorn and I just don't get along and this is a sad sad thing! A co-worker of mine buys me bags of the popcorn flavored jellies to take to the movies with me so I won't feel left out! I also love the Plum!

Grass and dirt are also available for snacking in a more economical form at a yard near you!

Ort---you're right. Ray Charles was a one-of-a-kind who knew no musical boundry. He will surely be missed. I cranked up "Mess Around" this morning! Hope the neighbors liked it!

Ort., I was truly upset when I read about "Brother Ray". Reagan's passing was a blessing, in that a great man was finally at peace, and his family can also finally rest.

However, Ray's passing was sad. I grew up on his music, and Sam Cooke was my father's other favorite. Ray did "I Can't Stop Loving You" better than anyone. "You Don't Know Me" still haunts my mind, and "Georgia" was HIS!! I can't keep from crying when I hear "America the Beautiful" by Ray, and I've heard it more times than I can count.

                                    Thanks for mentioning the man.

Amen to that!! NPR had a segment on Ray yesterday featuring America the Beautiful--cried through then whole thing--i'm gonna miss the father of "Soul Music".

as for jelly bellies---i love to pop a handful of mixed flavors in my mouth all at once and let my taste buds sort it all out!---btw--if you folks are ever in the Sacramento area--go check out the Jelly Bellie factory tour!!

I am a trumpet player by trade and worked several nights with Ray Charles and his band when they were on tour and came to town. The guys in his band spoke very highly of him(a rarity in the biz for underlings to praise their leader)....in reh,he was the consumate pro, efficient, accessable and genuinly nice to all....a true legend, especially in this day of glitter and poor taste
I hate jelly beans but will chomp down a few for the Gipper.
