I thought this was an interesting list until I got to the Melting Pot in SC. I wonder what the criteria of this list is.

In just checking my locality my impression is it is just a popularity contest with maybe some restaurant campaigning because the lists are all dependent on Open Table member responses - a vote. They don't correlate to any general consensus of the many reviewers. Like any "best" list, be it by vote of many or an opinion of one reviewer, it is just a reference list. Maybe at best you can eliminate some clunkers from consideration or discover some places you were unaware of.

I clicked on several of the links and some were very interesting (and expensive) $295 per person is a lot more then I would ever spend on a meal but to each their own. I do remember going to the Melting Pot many years ago when fondue was the rage. At least I think that was the place. Didn't know they were still around but it looks like they are still in most states.

I am glad to see the people of Wisconsin only chose 2 chains-the rest are excellent locally owned restaurants.

Looks like the Bartolottas stuffed the Wisconsin ballot box. When I went to the "local favorites" page and scrolled over "Wisconsin" I was given a choice: "Wisconsin" or "Minneapolis-St. Paul". If this doesn't call for some seriously righteous indignation I don't know what does. Brad

I dunno Brad. When I worked in downtown Minneapolis nearly half of my workmates were Wisconsin expats. They seem to come over the border in droves. Me. I skipped over both Illinois and Wisconsin to get to Minnesota.
