Opening Day hot dog fest -- what brand?

Tomorrow's Opening Day, so -- since I'm not independently wealthy and can't go to the ballpark -- I thought the appropriate thing was to have a hot dog fest. So the question is, what's the best brand of hot dog I can buy in a store, to enhance the pleasure of watching the Yankees getting their revenge on those upstarts from Boston?

125mph sounds a little high for Bristol. I'll be watching RIP DEI.

Uh, that's Opening Day of baseball season, a quaint spring tradition here in North America. I don't think I can get Ike's here, but thanks for the recommendation.

Up in the Northern reaches of Red Sox Nation I'll be grilling up some Kayem natural casing red hot dogs with Hanaford Spicy Brown Mustard and locally cured 'kraut. IF the rain holds off. 'Upstart'? Hardly. Not even the Yanks can win ALL the time. Top (born-again Sox fan)

Oboy, now we're talking! So, where do y'all stand on natural casing vs. skinless, or (for example) Kayem vs. Sabrett's? And what's a real bun: vertical or horizontal split? (btw, I went to the store, flipped a coin, and picked the Sabrett's, which I know will be fine. But some day I'm gonna have a hot dog taste-off, with Hebrew National, Boar's Head, Nathan's and Ballpark in addition to the aforementioned two.)

You should search out some of John Foxs reviews in the hotdog forums. You'll really enjoy the reading! (Then comes the onset of a serious appetite)..

Hummels natural casings(beef & pork) would be my first choice. Made in New Haven Connecticut in the shadow of Yankee Stadium, the home of 26 world championships.

lbb - do yourself a favor if you're having a taste-off, and get away from the packaged dogs. Go to the deli counter and buy a few of the loose dogs. Natural casings have it all over the skinless, and personally I prefer the beef/pork dog over the all beef. Also, I wouldn't buy Ballpark franks if they were giving them away. They shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the other brands.

Its never gonna happen. Its a cake the yankees cant bake. Theyde need 100 years of history and then the frosting--coming from behind 0-3 to win it all in the series---unpresedented. the candels on the cake was that steinbrenner had to watch it. And they say god doesnt have a sense of humer. your yankees can win 10 series in a row, but they can never come close to what happened last year. so roast yer natural casing dog, slather it with some good relish--the recipe on one of the threads here comes clost--an try to pretend like you still got a team.

I remember it being on Dixwell Avenue, and Clare Hummel, who sat in front of me in third grade at Church Street School, lived on the seond floor of the plant.
