Opportunity..What do you think?

Hi all. OK, some of you may have read a post detailing an idea for a wing operation. After consideration and some really good feedback from many of the folks here I believe that this may just work. One of the potential snafu's that was brought up is the method of delivery. My thoughts were to deliver these out of a "regular" type of hot dog cart and with my commissary requirement and the logistic of wings it may not work. That said I have an opportunity to buy this thing and it looks like I can convert this to an enclosed kitchen and avoid commissary requirements. I would love your input as to this beast and the potential of converting to an enclosed kitchen and selling wings, and dogs with the standard secondary products like chips and drinks. Does anyone know what and where I would need to buy to to outfit the inside of this thing? Would my Health Department need to detail what they need to pass inspection? By the way. This is my first attempt getting into this biz and am greener than the Hulk. Also the price tag is $800.00 and I am going to offer $500.00 if I buy. What do you think? I don't know how to upload pics so I uploaded to photobucket and the pics can be found here.(Cut and paste into browser)--It is not a link to a virus site or anything! http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk233/photopaintpro/2008_0608Image0003.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk233/photopaintpro/2008_0608Image0001.jpg

Save your money and find a nice used one that satisfies your local code requirements. That thing looks like a trick bag. While you are saving your money and researching, why don't you drive around and find somoene that is working in one similiar to what you want and become a regular customer. Eventually, when they get to know you, they will probably share more accurate info for your neck of the woods then you could possibly get here.

Hi Arnie, Foodbme was right. I should have continued this on the other thread I have going regarding my master plan. The point of my plan is that there is NOBODY doing a food cart with the primary product hot wings. I have looked and researched and as popular as hotwings are here I don't know why... But you think the rig I have a chance to buy is a piece huh? What about a conversion van?

What do I think? From the photos, I think it looks like a case of someone trying to save on the front end and ending up spending a bundle to end up with something that still doesn't work quite right.

Yea. That's what I'm afraid of. I am interested in an enclosed full kitchen like I have seen that would allow me to avoid the need for a commissary. If I can get this for $500.0 and get the fryer, sinks and whatever else that is needed and up to code then perhaps it would work and still fall within my $3-5k budget to get this started.

I would pass on this trl. Conversion vans are used all day to sell ice cream, problem is there isnt enough room to stand up in or hold enough equipment.

Rollin, go to craigs list for denver, there are a couple of step vans on there not too badly priced. a search for stepvan wont bring up much, search for step van under cars and trucks. Might want to take a look under rvs too. Just a suggestion. I promise Im not stalking you. spud

I have looked and researched and as popular as hotwings are here I don't know why... I realize that the first guy to sell hot dogs from a cart ended up starting a trend, as did the first guy to sell pretzels, etc. But, there is just as good a likelihood is that the reason that no one else is doing this is because it is not a good idea. Well, it may be a good idea, but it may be impractical (i.e. too much work versus money earned). Since you admitted that you are "greener than the Hulk," my advice (if you're askin') is to take things slowly and really do some strong research before plunking down any kind of serious money.
