I have noticed that too, mr chips.  It is supposed to be at random, but all of this gets me aching for a trip to Pacific Northwest!

Totally agree! This place and Pok Pok are also very high on my PDX favorite list. Heading out on Amtrak this May for another food adventure. Don and Louis is always my first stop.

That place is great. I took my daughter's entire graduation group there last year for dinner. Got right in and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

BTW, Huber's is terrific.  I would love to have Thanksgiving dinner there some year.

I love the Portland food scene, but Huber's is probably my favorite restaurant in town.

Hey guy....we ate there the last three visits. Huge portions, and huge lines. Worth the wait....I grew up in the South and this stuff is for real. Maybe plan to go early or late. They also have a great Sunday brunch. Fried chicken and waffle plate is truly intimidating. Here are a couple of more "can't miss" places.

Random schmandom, I'd love to see each state get a week on the front page.  This "SPOTLIGHT ON OREGON" is a great idea.

Another great little Oregon restaurant/coincidence...the Otis Cafe featured today was a stop my daughter made on her bicycle trip from Portland to San Francisco in May of 2012. She still raves about the place!

This Cafe's menu looks old school, the kind of menu that you would see, back in the day, and in the 70's and 80's. I use to have these items on my menu's back then. Any place that has Liver and onions starting off the menu has to be good. Kick in a choice of homemede breads, I'm in. This Cafe will be on my list for a summer RF stop........

P.S. they have Marionberry pie, I know a guy named Ed that would be all over that......

    Dinner

    Liver and Onions
    Chicken Breast Special
    Pork Chops and Applesauce
    Chicken Fried Steak
Hamburger Steak (Ground beef with special seasoning and onions mixed in...like a meatloaf)
    Buffalo Hamburger Steak
    Seafood Specialties
    Grilled Oysters
    Fresh Albacore Tuna
Please feel free to order from the specials board in the cafe and the breakfast and lunch menus as well!!
All dinners are served with soup or salad; rice, red potatoes, or hashbrowns; vegetables; and your choice of our homemade bread.

I am stumped about the all-Oregon pattern -- not that there's anything wrong with it! I've always thought that the "Restaurant of the Day" was a random selection, and have asked Stephen what's up. Have yet to hear. --MS

It does look great. I just sent her the roadfood link...here's her reply.
Ah, that place is killer! The molasses bread is insanely good! We'll have to stop there the next time we're out west together.
