Is there any really great roadfood type place in Orlando and surrounding areas? I'm traveling there on business in March and have to decide whether it's worth it to rent a car. I won't rent one if there's no good restaurant to drive to. Thanks

As far as recommending restaurants go, I will let the virtually unlimited number of Orlando topics speak on their own. But, if you are planning to come to Orlando and not rent a car, it would likely be a big mistake. I don't venture to know what side of town you are staying on, but public transport, including cabs, in Orlando, is weak, at best. There is not much "roadfood" in the touristy hotel areas -- I guess they figure that most people will eat on the Disney properties, and those that don't make their way to the areas lined with chain after chain after chain after chain. I would strongly recommend renting a car, unless you plan at eating at a Bennigan's. Where will you be staying? I-Drive? Near Disney? Downtown? I go to Orlando 4 or 5 times a year (I was there yesterday) ... I have not found it to be the much of a roadfood destination. (It is the center of the universe for chians though.) I'll be watching this thread too.

I realize Orlando isn't a good walking town. It's just that I'll be attending a big convention and staying at a hotel that will have a shuttle bus that can bring me back and forth to the meetings. So a car isn't essential. But if there's some good food to drive to, I'll rent a car. Thanks for sending those threads. I figured there must be some, but I was too lazy to look back and see. Dan

Two years ago hubby and I went to "Brisas Del Caribe Sea Food & Steak House Restaurant". It was great! Their address is: 5773 Curry Ford Rd.,Orlando FL 32822 and phone is: 407-275-2996. This is a hole in the wall place in a strip mall. The Cuban food is great. I must admit I can't remember what we had but I know it was good. I collect munus so here's few items w/ prices: Churrasco Steak (Skirt Steak)...$10.95...Carne Frita con Mofongo,a house specialty (fried pork and Monforngo)....$6.95.I remember the "Flan" being delicious and home made....$1.95. Domestic Beer:$2.25 and Imported....$2.50.Hope this post helps! I've also been to "White Wolf Cafe" (in Orlando near the Orlando Science Museum...which is also a good take!) that's in another post and it was good bistro food. It's a bit upscale and certainly not what I'd call "Roadfood". The food was very good and the atmosphere cool. The entire place is loaded w/ antiques that are for sale!Happy eating! KokomoJoe
