Not to drag out the thread,
but I think the Phrase on the marker-stone
is worth your attention.

That's also a beautiful engraving. Is that from a photo? Looks just like him. That posting of his photograph nearly choked me up, he looks like such a good, sweet doggy and I'm sure he was just the best!

Maybe I'm getting cynical in my middle years but I really believe the world would be a far better place if dogs lived longer and some people didn't.

Al, my condolences to you and Janet and I know the good memories will always overshadow the grief.

I am not one who feels the need to invest thousands in medical care for a pet. When his terminal cancer was confirmed and had reached the level where medication wasn't the answer, we had him put to sleep as humainly as we could. There was no suffering or shock and pain. He went very quietly in his sleep.  I loved that dog and he returned the emotion with a strong loyalty that has left a lasting feeling in my heart.

His stone is a granite marker made by a small company in Evansville, Indiana and sold via Ebay. It was reasonable in price and is heavy enough to last some time.
We will not add another dog to our home until our other Scottie (Demi) also passes on.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words. We Appreciate your support during this emotional time.

You know, this is when I realize again that love, warm relationships and other such good things are really most significant and will be with us, Lord willing, up to the very, very last moment on earth. It is fun to discuss and otherwise kick around food and other extraneous things but Duffy and family has reminded me, and I hope many others of what counts in life. May God so bless us all. Amen. My love to all. Marion McClung

Aw, Marion, I really don't want to start crying at work (whoops! Am I on Roadfood at work?).

Al, you're not dragging anything out. And I love that stone. Thanks for posting the picture of it. I'm glad you're sharing this with us.

Our Condolences!  We also had to end the suffering of a beloved pet and member of the family.
