Out of curiosity, regarding the Roadfood search

On a whim, I did a search for Grand Rapids, MI. Turns out there is only one place featured (and a good place it is, albeit one of many that deserve to be), but I was curious as to how results are figured. Because according to the map, Ann Arbor (a 2-ish hour drive) and Milwaukee (a 4-ish hour drive) are each 97 miles from here. Which may be true, but apparently the map doesn't take into consideration the fact that there's this pretty big lake between here and Milwaukee. Obviously you can tell that by looking at the map, but I wouldn't have thought results would show up that far away, since if I'm looking for a restaurant near where I'll be I typically don't consider driving half the day to get there an option.

The other thing I don't get is how restaurants I know for a fact have been reviewed and also featured on the home page do not show up in the search results. Does the search only show you restaurants for which there are actual reviews written?

Is there a better place I should've asked this question? I realize it's a busy time of year, but I would've thought someone would have said something by now. Maybe not.

The 'How to do it" is outside the knowledge level of the Moderators.  BB only recently stepped into the Review Editor position, so I am not sure if he sees many of the new threads outside the trip report and review sections.  I would suggest that you ask BB in a PM about your questions.

Will do, thank you. It would never have occurred to me that the Review Editor would know how and why things showed up on the map when doing a search from the home page, but I'll ask him. After a while...I'm sure he's pretty busy learning the ropes, etc.
