In January, the Design Review Board of Snohomish, Wash., rejected the mural planned for the side of the BBQ Shack restaurant, in part, reported the owner, because its five pink pigs were naked. [San Francisco Chronicle-AP, 1-17-05]

[San Francisco Chronicle-AP, 1-17-05] This is the kind of "Isn't the Bay Area so much more sophisticated and, indeed, cooler than the rest of the country?" kind of story the SF media just love. Let's all just bow down to the Doggy Diner head*. *The huge head of a cartoon hound once resided outside Sunset Disrict location of the local Doggy Diner restaurant chain, but, since the resturant closed, the head has become a city icon and has now survived not only the demise of its raison d'etre but also storms, vandalism and who knows what. http://www.doggiediner.com/pages/hist_01.html
