actually its not owned by the same company. pf changs is owned by paul flemming...pf...and phillip chiang...changs. if tgi fridays were owned by the same company then, myself as a pf changs employee would get a discount at fridays, which i dont...do your research before you open your mouth.

I agree with you Alicia: I do not appreciate uneducated responses. PF is OK with me but in my opinion, they are not great. It is my belief that they take the same thing and add different sauces. Nothing wrong with that but it tends to take on mediocrity.

I had my retirement party there and I had a good time but I have not been back since.. That was two years ago.

Umm, Alicia you are talking about the great unwashed masses waiting to eat at a place that is -trying- to serve their version of Chinese food? These are the same type of folks who would wait for over an hour to get into Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill. P.T. Barnum's statement has always proven true when it comes to where suckers will flock to.
You mention a three hour wait, Holy Bejeezus, that is ridiculous. You are correct in your statement that the guests are idiots. I appreciate your candor and will now use it as a good reason to avoid your establishment.

=== or you all are just being too critical? if you dont like it, dont come back...the 200 other people that wait all night to eat there will keep the business open.===

Of course we are. This is a site dedicated to regional one of a kind kitchens run by people who do not feed corporate food. Here, there is a desire to find something unique. I am sure I could find genuine authentic Chinese food without the long wait.
Being from San Francisco and now living near New York, I am spoiled and know what I am looking for. Heck, I am so opinionated, I would not go into a Benihana.

A question. Do you have a fully staffed kitchen with Chinese chefs and cooks? That is the type of place we are looking for.

we have some chinese people who work in the kitchen. the kitchen is fully staffed. if you were looking for somewhere that wasnt corporate, then why would you intentionally go to a corporate restaurant and then bash it on this site. im not saying you specifically, but if everyone on here wanted a local chinese restaurant owned and operated by all chinese people, then they shouldnt go to pf changs, knowing it was corporate and then bad mouth it on this site.

Alicia, if the food sucks, the food sucks, corporate or mom and pop. I've tried the P.F. in Charlotte several times to give them a chance, and the food is mediocre, plain and simple. If they can't provide decent tasting food after 3 tries, especially with their pricing, I stop going.

I've probably eaten at hundreds of Chinese restaurants in my time and even took a course in Chinese cooking, so I think I'm capable of discerning mediocre from authentic and tasty. This is a thread for comments on franchises and chains. Should we shut it down because you don't like us expressing our opinions about P.F.'s food? C'mon, get real.

Being Chinese, I've found PF Chang's to be to Chinese food what Olive Garden is to Italian food - it's aimed directly at the mid-level consumer who can identify the difference between a spring roll and an egg roll but wouldn't be able to handle dim sum. That having been said, PF Chang's food isn't spectacular but when taken in context, it's not half bad. The crowds and the atmosphere continually put me off because I don't have an urge to drive an hour to the closest PF Chang's and then wait 2 hours for a table at the end of the dinner rush.

Don't forget the the Koreans are taking over kitchens and restaurants across America - just because the cook has slanted eyes doesn't mean that the cook is Chinese in a Chinese restaurant [|)]

Many years back, there was an article in a Chicago paper about Chinese restaurants. They mentioned that most were owned by Koreans. Matter of fact, Fujiyama Japanes Restaurant, which is right across the hall from my Vienna joint is owned by a Korean woman. So is Mel's Deli a few doors down. Very nice people, but very quiet.
