Phil - Best Chicago thin crust pizza in Florida?  Ok....but is that because it is the only place that serves Chicago thin crust pizza?  Anyone else in Florida serving "Chicago" thin crust pizza.

What is Chicago thin crust pizza anyway?  I do know it is available in Chi Town because I heard it mentioned on FoodTV   How is it different from NY thin crust pizza? Is it just a problem for Chi Towners to call thin crust pizza "NY pizza?"  Or is there truly a difference?  Maybe it's the sauce?  Maybe it's the type of cheese?

    Thanks

chicago thin crust is more of a cracker type thin crust and usually cut in smaller squares instead of slices with a sweeter sauce

PhatPhil - OK!! I know exactly what it is now.  THANK YOU.  And, it is good!

There is a place on Route 441/SR 7 in Hollywood, FL (west side of road..not too far from the casino) that serves what I guess is Chicago thin pizza, but they do not call it that.  It is Villa Rosa.  Been there for years and years.

What they do is they take the pizza dough and use a mechanical pizza press and make ultra thin crusts ahead of time.  Then they freeze them between wax paper because they are so fragile and hard to handle.

When an order is placed, they take a frozen pie crust out of the freezer, do all the sauce/cheese prep and bake it.  Then they cut it in little squares.  It is very, very good!

MD - Check it out.  Very good!!

Phi - You da man.  I am impressed!  Yup..Villa Rosa is good!  You know my old eating grounds....I know Las Vegas..They also have one on Hollywood Blvd in Pembroke Pines....

Hey while we're talking..Do you remember Tommy's up the block from Villa Rosa?  My favorite gyro maven of all time.  The best gyros!  He cared.  He'd take the drippings from the gryo broiler and paint those pitas with it..Homemade sauce..Lots of meat, fresh tomatoes..a gyro artist!

He sold the place and moved onto Griffin Road and called his new place Big Foot's.  It still may be there.  And, if Tommy still owns it..you can be sure it is still good!

My other favorites were Ricky's and two Chinese restaurants - One on the corner of SR 7 and Hallendale Beach Blvd called the Rice Bowl.  The other across the street from Ricky's.  I think it was called China Gate?  Both pretty good.  And then there was John the Baker in Pembroke Pines (great, great garlic rolls!) and Lucille's Diner in Weston.   Lots of good places in So Florida in Broward.

Hey isn't there a prison out in your area?  I know a former student spent some time in jail and I believe it was that town..With an unusual name like that..Hard to forget.
