Pappy's Beef Jerky?

Well, for the longest time we haven't been able to find Pappy's beef jerky around the Dallas TX area. We used to find it in Angel's Liqour Store but we'd heard from them that the owner of the company was having health issues. So, needing a fix I was wondering if anyone knows where to order some, or if he's even in business anymore. Similar recipes are also welcome. I haven't made jerky before, but to get something even close I'd try. It was cut very thin, usually no more than .75-1mm. It was extremely dry in comparison to 'bagged' jerky like obertos, if you folded the meat it'd crack almost like wood. The original had a strong beef flavor but was moderately salty as well (as opposed to the sweet taste of other jerkies.) Thanks in advance for any information or recommendations.
