Pasquales Pizza Threads No More? Thu, 11/8/07 8:45 AM (permalink)

It may be an Internet analogue of the Bermuda Triangle, but what's happened to the two Pasquales Pizza threads? They have both vanished from the list.

Ok, now I see--it's been moved off of the Pizza forum onto the franchises and non-roadfood forum. With some posts mysteriously deleted to boot.

tfrielin I just found this thread and i saw where you asked about the roebuck location my mom worked there during the 70's for Mr. Nunnelley. She has also worked at Tarrant city, Leeds, Talladega and I think a couple more. I will talk to her and get a little more  information. I found this and started remembering way back when. I still think Pasquales made a better pizza and sandwiches than you can get anywhere today.

Thanks for that info. I'm sure your mom must have waited on us at the Roebuck location back in the '70s. We were in the habit of eating there after softball games in which one of my friends played in a league out that way.  I remember the Roebuck location serving bock beer in the spring--we thought that very exotic!

I never ate at the other locations you mentioned as our regular Pasquales was the Eastwood Mall location and secondarily, the Crestline location, both now long gone.

I would love to hear your mom's reminiscences  of what it was lik working for Pasquales. It was a great franchise and I'm a particular fan of their Hoggie sandwich.

Someone was in recent years, trying to re-vitalize the Pasquales franchise, but I understand he has run afoul of the law and I don't know what the current status of the proposed expansion is. I would love to see one in Athens, GA. I think it would be a hit with the college students.

Pasquales would be good wherever it opened; as long as the original recipes were used.  What's up, Tom?  ;)

Yes, I'm sure they still adhere to the original recipes. I've been to the Pasquales up the road in Gainesville, GA a couple of times and the garlic bread and the Hoggies taste exactly the same as they always did.

I talked to one of the owners who said they buy their ingredients from the company, so they must exercise some serious quality contron.

All is well in Athens. Ort is behaving himself.

                What's going on in Bainbridge?

Still nothing on Publix.  Another worthless Chinese "buffet" restaurant and two (2) mediocre Mexican restaurants have also arrived.  A local is making a stab at a seafood/oyster bar out near the lake.  Haven't been there yet but I heard it was pretty good.  A new seafood place with very good and fresh gulf fixin's has opened up in Cario; along with a small new BBQ place.  All in all though, Bainbridge remains stagnant.  As usual.  ;)

Makes you wonder why Bainbridge is such a black hole for good mom and pop restaurants when Thomasville, right down the road, keeps them going for good long runs (e.g.; Melissa's on Broad St.--I think that's the right street--that had a good long run in the '90s, not to menton Mom&Dad's that's been there for forever). Maybe it's the critical mass--maybe Bainbridge doesn't have enough people to sustain a quality, whereas Thomasville does?

We'll be down for a wedding in April, but won't expect any fancy eating out.

Who knows?  I work in Thomasville.  I certainly can attest to the good eats over there.  There are several new places there since you left; all good.  Bainbridge:  Well you know...  ;)   Even Whataburger turned Bainbridge down.  LOL.......

Any locale that turns down a major brewing company (beer) for the company's next plant...  Well; something is seriously wrong there.  Unemployment in this county now approaching 10%.  Highest in SW Georgia.  The Amoco Fiber Yarn plant just shut down abouth 3 months ago.  All state psych. hospitals (example Southwestern in T'ville) shutting doors.  Getting pretty bad.

I used to frequent the Pasquale's in Gainesville when I was in high school. boy, that seems like a long time ago....I remember the sandwiches and pizza as being good.  I have not eaten there since then , nor have I seen a Pasquale's since I used to go to the one in Calhoun, but that was also more than a few years ago.  We sure could use some new restaurants besides typical chain stuff here, but the unemployment rate here is so bad, and some chain restaurants have closed.
