whenever I hear Paula Dean, that tells me RUN THE OTHER WAY as fast as you can

OMG...you are so right.  Ate at her restaurant in Savannah few months ago, it was the worse.  I had better food at Golden Corral and  The service really sucked.  To think we waited in line to make a reservation.

  I admit she's got some great recipes as far as down home southern cooking goes - I've made many of them and I they're good - but this mass marketing of her cookware, spices, utensils, aprons, knives -  and I promise I saw it at a store a couple of weeks ago and it was some sort of Snack Mix thing and I said - enough.
 
It's time for her to go away.

LOL! That said Paula Deen makes my skin crawl, and the fact that she's become a gazillionaire with that creepy schtick, makes it worse!

  Paula Deen's Butter Popsicle 

 
 

Now she was good!

Paula Deen nauseates me, but I like some of her recipes.  This 'Pine Bark' recipe is very easy, and works well with matzo during Passover.
 
 
35 saltine crackers
1 cup butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
5 (4-ounce) milk chocolate bars, broken into pieces
 
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Line a 15 by 10 by 1-inch jelly roll pan with tin foil.
Lightly spray foil with a non-stick cooking spray.
 
Place saltine crackers, salty side up, in prepared pan.
In a saucepan, boil butter and sugar for 2 to 3 minutes,
stirring constantly.   Remove from heat and stir in
almond extract.   Pour mixture over crackers and bake
for 4 to 6 minutes. Remove from oven, top with candy bars,
and spread evenly as chocolate begins  to melt.
Cool slightly and transfer onto waxed paper. 
Allow to cool completely.

Another recipe I like is the sugar cookie with the thin mint cookie inside.
