That's funny. When I was a youngster my family was on "relief" for a little while when my dad was laid off. Gallon sized containers of peanut butter was one of the items we received from the government. Ingredients: peanuts, salt. We hated it. Now I pay a premium for peanut butter with the ingredients: peanuts, salt.

I'm just reminded of a Lily Tomlin one-liner from the 70s.

"I went to five stores looking for a can of rat hairs and animal impurities. Everyone I found had tuna in it."

Add.: No offense meant toward anyone, and best wishes for speedy and safe recovery to anyone afflicted. I'm not sure if I'd have thrived as a child, or continued to survive without tuna or peanut butter, and if it had been the other major brand I wouldn't be online now.

Dearfolk,
Funny thing... I ate some peanut butter last night before going to bed (as is my custom). No symptoms have developed yet, but I do feel like I'm going nuts. NOW what do I do?

That is bad news for this small town farming community and my area in general. I do hope they DO track the outbreak to the actual processing plant. My entire tri-state area (Georgia, Alabama, & Florida) within 100 miles any way of where I live produces most all of the Spanish Peanuts used to make peanut butter in the United States. This may produce a devistating blow to the area's agricultural economy.

Have you ever tried Parkers BBQ in Sylvester?

We had a jar each of Peter Pan and Great Value with the infamous 2111 stamp on top. The Great Value was a couple of tablespoons removed from being empty and my wife does not eat peanut butter. Oh well.

So, I finally decided to go into my pantry and check my PB........
Ah HA!.. Found one of the offending little culprits hiding in the back.
I could have sworn that I bought Reese's PB.. Hmmm.....

It was half full....
I don't know how long I had it in there, but I don't remember getting ill after eating it.
Good Byeeeeeeeee................. Peter Pan......
Into the trash you go!

Dearfolk,
I've been housesitting for my friend Jim while he's been on the road. Last night I finished off the jar of Great Value Peanut Butter (code 2111!) from his pantry. Both he and I have been spooning up a bit of it from time to time for several weeks. Neither of us has yet to get sick from it. Must have been only a small portion of the 2111 batch that was contaminated.
Well, it hasn't affected me at all at all at all at alllllllllllll

If we cant find humor in life,we have nothing.Bob survived, albeit 10 lbs lighter. Now he is telling everyone I was trying to poison him-so we are getting a laugh out of it.We are still amazed at the odds of US having contaminated food, and being affected by it!!!

Con-Agra has totally shut down the Sylvester, GA plant where the outbreak occured. The problem had to stem from SOP in the plant, as peanut butter produced this year was from last year's warehoused crop.
