Pennsylvania BBQ

Just a tip....No insult to the southerners, but there is a fantastic BBQ here in Pennsylvania. It's Clem's BBQ and it's on Route 220 in Port Matilda, (just outside of State College). They bbq pork chicken and beef on anf off the bone. I thought it was way above average.

I've only had the ribs at Clem's but they are certainly up there with the best I have ever eaten in the North.

That's good to know. BBQ for most PA'ers used to consist of sloppy joes or shaved ham w/ BBQ sauce or pork in a crockpot. Southern BBQ does make a difference from one who is now considered a "damn" yankee.

Most times it is just a beef shank which is roasted in BBQ sauce or rubbed with spices. Not traditional BBQ in the "purist" sense, but still good.

Here in central Montgomery County, PA, we're blessed with a traveling bbq purveyor. The name: Tex's BBQ. He has a trailer and a couple of smokers. He sets up in the parking lot of various businesses and is only open Fri., Sat., and Sundays. Excellent ribs, chicken, pork loin, pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, baked potatoes, etc. Check out his website: www.texsbbqpa.com
