Phoenix to Grand Canyon..with pit stops...

......in Jerome and Sedona. Has anyone else made this trip? Can you recommend good chow?? We love Mexican, SouthWest, Tex-Mex. Are there any "local favorites"? We really love good American food..nothing fancy-schmancy. We will probably be hungry after stepping off the plane...so anything close to Phenoix on the way to the G.C. for a lunch stop would really be helpful. Many thanks to all...I love this site!!

Maybe somebody can give me a hand but there is a mexican restaraunt in Sedona that is famous for its chimichangas (?). Also, they have a large variety of margaritas including a jalapeno version.

You can also view the menu by on their internet site, www.elrinconrestaurant.com Hwy. 179 at The Bridge Sedona, AZ 86336 928-282-4648 Serving lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday 11:00 to 8:00 pm Dinner reservations suggested El Rincon opened in April 1976 as the premier restaurant in Tlaquepaque Village, Sedona, AZ.

See my thread on LA to Phoenix. Tried the Texaz Grill (on 16th and Bethany Home, not far from the airport) per a suggesetion there-----it was awesome! Really the best chicken fried steak I have had and was told the chicken fried chicken was really good too. Plus----great atmosphere. I highly recommend it.

I did read your post Ed...my husband "loves" Chicken Fried Steak! Hopefully, it will not be hard to find...and it's a good thing that it's close to the airport. Just the thing we need when getting off the plane..we'll be plenty hungry.

It's actually less than 10 minutes from the airport-----at the corner of 2 main streets. I had still can't believe the size of the portions they give there. My lunch portion was bigger than dinners at most places. Awesome!
