This roast beef sandwich sure beats Arby's anyday, anytime, anyplace huh? Sure wish WV wasn't so far.

I don't know about Arby's - they've never done well around here for some reason, very few locations, and I haven't had an Arby's roast beef in way more than a decade. But I gotta say that sandwich looks awesome. I used to think places around here served ridiculously overstuffed sandwiches but I don't know anymore. I look at the restaurant of the day on Roadfood and often turn green with envy . I'll probably never eat at most of these places but if I ever open a roadfood restaurant of my own I'll have a ton of can't-miss menu ideas .

Sorry to rub it in, since I only live an hour from Wheeling, but the sandwich is every bit as good as it looks. Two Fridays ago, my cousin and I devoured roast beefs from Michael's and fish sandwiches from Coleman's. Delicious! This is my usual must stop off I-70 anytime I am headed west.

Looking at that sandwich, I feel that there should be some contest to guess the exact weight. Not that I know what it is, but it sure seems that portion control is not an issue. One thought I have about the photo is how big the bun is, as it looks like it may be kind of small. I'm guessing 8 oz. of beefy goodness. Secondly, do they have a larger version available? mark

K- Think "Earth Tones" The sandwich looks good, but needs a cup of 'Dippin Sauce' sitting beside it

Ditto SassyGritsAL, I'll look forward to the opportunity to return the favor to buffetbuster some day . The review said the sandwich had seasoned salt applied; so long as there was some au jus involved and it wasn't too dry, I'd take it just the way it looks.

Dipping sauce or some horseradish would make it great, too.

All the above work for me! But the pic looked awesome either way.. Now to ponder on dipping or coating it in sauce..

Well, the new picture of the day, Pandls in Whitefish Bay, brings back old memories.I lived right down the block from there, went to school with John Pandl from kindergarten thru senior in high school, and went to his(then his dads)restaurant for my first formal dance.I recently went there for lunch, and they served the most tender veal shanks with spaetzle I have ever tasted. The interior has not changed one bit since I was a young girl. While the food may seem average to some, the nostalgia of going there makes the food taste marvelous to me.If you are ever in the Milwaukee area, a stop there for lunch is in order-the view of Lake Michigan to the east of the restaurant is breathtaking....

I hate to break anyones bubble here but that thing looks awful dry to me. No red meat?, no sauce? just stringy dry looking meat piled on one side of the bun. Does'nt look appetising to me.

I hate to be a spoil sport too...but I've had this sandwhich and was not at all impressed...it was indeed very dry and crumbly....nothing succulent about it....not much flavor either.. Stick to Coleman's on the other end of the market!
