Hey Cowboy Bob -
There are a lot of places that allow you to use their bandwith for free for photo hosting. They each have their pluses and minuses, but my two favorites are
www.flickr.com (free service limited to 100MB upload per month, 200 viewable total pictures at any one time) and
www.photoshop.com/express (2G limit on photo storage, no other minimums that I am aware of - and had neat editing software built-in - they will both allow you to hot link your photos, if you choose to post them here, or you can just store them and share with your friends. I know flickr will also offer printed materials, but you are under no obligation to buy anything from them.
There are others out there, too, that some other folks may have experience with. Photobucket and Kodak both offer something, as does imageshack.
Most of these also have paid services that will boost the amount of photos that you can upload, number that you can have stored/visible at any one time. I was gifted a subscription to flickr that will expire this week, but I will happily re-up.
