Pie Crumb Strangler

Occasionally I've heard about cross country crime sprees committed by frequent travelers that are solved when a public schedule (such as for a band or other artist) is compared to the crime locations.  Because these cases are so far flung, no law enforcement agency usually takes note of some similar pieces of evidence.  
 
It takes a special kind of lawman to break these cases.  Our hero, U.S. Marshall Bob Surreycounty, is one of them.  He gets on the case and finds a trail of death follows a trail of pie crumbs.  There may be a sinister character among us. 
 
Arkansas in May.  Iowa in July. Where will the Pie Crumb Strangler strike next?

Too funny!  My alibi is that it couldn't possibly be me, since there are never any pie crumbs left over.

Hmmm, Do all of the crimes happen near an establishment that is "closed"  due to unusual circumstances?

Any other clues that could give a better 'vision' of the "Perp"(s) ? Perhaps he/she/they does not operate alone?
   It might be a crime-spree duo frustrated by their situation, moving under cover of the food festival 'guise to find victims who stand in their way..
Did the initial crime happen to occur in New Jersey?  Just wondering....
 

This is creepy. I think I might recently have broken bread with the monster. Is it possible he might be an extraterrestrial? A Martian, maybe?

Does he photograph his adventures to preserve his memories after the evidence was consummed ?  Then share his adventures with cryptic terms like  "Best I ever ate..."  and "Didn't quite equal that from xxxx " (an earlier crime scene). 
 
I still would be suspect of the "Bonnie & Clyde" syndrome. Beware if you share pie with strangers !

Fortunately for buffetbuster, the most sinister character is usually not the real villain in mystery novels.  It can be the mild mannered sidekick or some jealous creep trying to frame someone out of jealousy. Not me, of course.  Why would I be jealous of dozens of missed pies, burgers, breakfasts, etc. spread across our fine nation?
 
Keep the ideas coming, this could be fun.
