Pit Beef


Smoked to medium rare, cooled, then dipped in a very warm beef broth to reheat or to bring it to medium or well done. I like it cool with red onion and our horseradish sauce!

    Wow1 there is some really good pit beef to be had in the Delmarva area if you follow rt 40 south into Maryland and hit some of the small placdes. Works  best in warm  weather when  you can follow your nose.

    Wish we had something like that here in Austin. It would be a nice change from barbeque all the time.

    I would head right up there but  I just had the packing removed from my nose and heading over to the Eastern shore  for crabs and oysters!

    That's what the Doctor told me to do after I had the packing removed from my nose...and remember Greymo, pick your crabs, not......

    I lived in Baltimore for most of my childhood and early teenage years, and I remember getting pit beef all the time. It was always the best when it came from the smaller "stand-type" locations that made only three things: small pit beef sandwiches, large pit beef sandwiches, and fries.
     
    I've since moved to South Carolina, and nobody that I've encountered here has ever even heard of it. This thread makes me want to drive up to Maryland just to get one of these sandwiches.

    I can attest to the fact that Chewy makes some damned tasty Pit Beef.
    Having only sampled Boog's at Camden Yard 20 years ago I'm no authority. But I know what I like.
