While I'm certainly not stuck with Pizza Hut and don't care much for their products, some people must like them.

As far as the city/suburbia crap, rural folk seem to be "stuck" with a whole lot of RF at least from the reviews I've seen here.

It wasn't meant as a dig on rural america it was more of a dig on the thought that every place has mom and pop shops close by like you find in the more urban/suburban areas. As adjudicator said the closest one is an hour away. I think many people, especially in the nyc metro area, just think that pizza places/italian restaurants litter the landscape all over like they do around here. Plus, as you said some people must actually like their products

Well, I live in a sort of metropolitan area, you could say -- over a million population -- and most of the so-called mom and pop pizzerias are as bad as the chains. And the local Italian restaurants, with a very few exceptions, are nothing to write home about.

Actually, Louie closed Constantino's several years ago - El Coyote Mexican Restaurant is there now. His food was not good - microwaved frozen veal from Sysco with red sause on it was not my idea of "real" veal parm, and I told him so when he asked.

Paisano's isn't anything great, either.

Haven't tried the pasta, but as far as quality goes, a few of us were in Huntsville AL recently for work. We asked some local co-workers where a good place was for pizza and they replied "Pizza Hut."

So, we were all from CT so...., we politely thanked them, branched out and found a great mom and pop shop. In a pinch, Pizza Hut would have been fine.

We did make the drive from Huntsville to Nashville and had a great time Sundancer. I like TN.

My problem with the pasta dishes (haven't tried them, but would out of curiosity) is how they look in the commercial. Come on pizza hut spruce them up a little like olive garden does. At least make them look appetizing in the commercial

Whether one has a quality mom and pop Italian restaurant in town or not, there's no excuse to eating Pizza Hut. Go without. Eat something else. Make your own. Please, stop eating there just because there's no other place to go.

This is the kind of post that makes me scratch my head. OK, you don't like Pizza Hut. However, there are millions of people who do. Obviously, Pizza Hut has a product and price point that suits many people. Why play restaurant police? Maybe some of us just aren't blessed with the sophisticated palate that you must possess.

I just don't get it. Someone will start a thread about a particular product at a FF restaurant, and there's always someone who wants to turn it into a bash of that particular FF restaurant. If you've not tried their pasta, why take the time to post on the thread?

I don't hate all FF. In fact, I've been a big fan of Chipotle. I don't claim it's authentic mexican, but then, neither would any place that sells "Mission" style burritos.

But, if people wish to live their lives not knowing the difference between good pizza and crappy pizza, then fine. They can do that. It doesn't mean the rest of us won't think of them as ignorant as far as pizza goes.

If I went to NC and said that Famous Dave's is really good BBQ, I'd be the ignoramous. So, while, yes, there is a FF Forum to talk about FF - one is kiddding themself if they think they can go to a foodie type website and tell people how great Pizza Hut pasta tastes and not get comments to the contrary. The fact that there's a FF Forum on this site does not mean that this forum is a safe haven for FF lovers to unite and talk about the high quality of FF.

So, you needn't scratch your head any longer as to why people bash Pizza Hut. It sucks. I don't care if millions buy it. Quantity does not make quality.

How is that not a good enough reason to eat at a place? And obviously you do care if you're telling people that it's not a good enough reason to eat at a place they may happen to enjoy.

don't misquote me fattybomatty. I said it's not a good enough reason IMO - which means "in my opinion." That doesn't mean it isn't a good enough reason for another person.

You asked if it's any good. A person I know from work ordered the pasta to-go. Said it was crap. I saw it. It looked like crappy pasta. I agree with that person's opinion and it furthered my opinion that Pizza Hut is crap.

Take the advice, or leave it. Your choice. IMO, you'd be nuts to waste your money - even if that was the only pasta in town.

IMO, if a place serves crappy food, and it's the only place in town, the sole fact that a place is the only place in town, is not reason enough to eat the food.

I lived in a small town like that for a year. It had one place to eat - a sort of family restaurant bar (anyone who has lived in a really small town knows the kind of place I mean). The Jack Daniel's was the same Jack Daniel's as served at any other typical bar in America. The food was crap. One taste was all it took. I never ate there again, even though the burgers were tolerable - I cannot, however, say that I never drank alcohol there again.

Case in point:
Today, a large group of co-workers went out to pizza to a place called Armand's. They sell Chicago style pizza. They are a local chain.
When I first moved to DC, I went to the location in Tenleytown neighborhood. The pizza was as close to Chicago style as I had eaten in a long long time.
Our office, takes an annual trip to the Armand's on Capitol Hill. It's about a 10 minute walk from my office. I noticed that the Capitol Hill location was not as good as the Tenleytown location, but it wasn't terrible. Because our office was off-site for a year and a half, it's been a few years since we took our "annual" trip.
Today, we went back. The pizza has taken a major nose dive since a couple years ago. The pizza was not good - only slightly better than Pizza Hut. I made a comment to a fellow co-worker that the food has really gone downhill, she agreed. I made the comment that given the poor quality of the food, and the attitude of the manager - we should find a new pizza option for next year. She agreed. As did others in the group who overheard our conversation.
The next closest pizza place is about twice the distance. I can assure you, that I will never go back to Armand's, and am willing to travel twice as far for much better pizza next year - others agree.
If it was the only pizza place on Cap Hill, I would've suggested we go out for subs next year. And even suggested that perhaps if the other pizza place is too far, that we go out for something else - others agreed that there's no reason to take the annual Spring luncheon to Armand's if that's the level of food we're going to get.

No one is suggesting that anyone should go somewhere where they don't like the food. The point is that just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean that those who do are ignorant.

Your posts on this subject are an example of why some newbies feel less than welcome. You repeatedly said people are ignorant if their tastes are different than yours.

And your case in point proves what exactly? There are going to still be people that like Armand's and will go there. Not everyone has the same taste. So while I have no problem with you having an opinion and bashing these places I do have a problem with you telling people they don't have a good enough excuse "in your opinion" to eat at a particular place. I know you follow it up with if that's a person's choice so be it and you don't care, but that's after you bash them for their choice.

yeah i have bashed the pasta, but I haven't told someone there's no excuse to patron a place. I just felt you could have said it in a better manner. And I'm sure that's why Jman is all fired up.
