Pizza Hut's pizza is so bad, why go there?

When I spent alot of time traveling for work, Pizza Hut was available in many hotels. It was just easier than standard room service when I just wanted to stay in.

I would venture to guess that a vast majority of pizza places, chain or otherwise, don't use REAL mozzarella. I know the difference in price is huge.

*Not to say some of the local pizza places in cities where pizza is an art form don't use real cheese, just that it's not cost-effective for most and about 85% of their customers wouldn't know the difference unless shown the package it came from.

it's a location thing. Some pizza bolli's are better than others. Yes, it a chain, but I've had decent Pizza Boli's and not so decent here in DC. Most delivery pizza in DC is bad, but compared to PH and Dominos, Pizza Boli is generally a cut above. Plus, I have noticed that getting it onsite is better than delivery. They cook it a little longer or something, because the crust is a little more crunchy on the bottom rather than the soft underbelly of their delivery pizza.

Thanks JMAN --- that's kind of out of the way for us but we'll try it. Joe Bologna's is closer and I like it but my husband doesn't. Maybe we'll finally get some decent pizza in the area?

Have you ever tried the Mellow Mushroom over by campus? It's a block or so from Joe Bologna's. For a chain, it's pretty good.

Oh my favorite topic.....I won't blame the poor Chinese for frequenting Pizza Hut...what else do they have??? And maybe they won't blame me for all the fake Chinese I've eaten in buffets across America. We eat what we can get,where we are at the time....
AndreaB, you're right, a Pizza Hut pie is not different from a Boboli you make at home, especially if you use that red sugar stuff they package with the crust....well actually a Boboli is much better..and a lot cheaper..and if you put your own quality toppings and sauce on it...not bad for a quick meal!!!

Advertising $$$ drive business to Pizza Hut, and other horribe pizza franchises (Papa John's & Little Caesar's Domino's). All the kiddies see the commercials with Jessica Simpson and Miss Piggy (no comment) and when you are driving along the highway, they start to shout "Mom, can we go to Pizza Hut?" Sigh.

Thankfully, my sons are beyond the Pizza Hut phase. These days, I have the pleasure of making my own pizza for them, and ALL of their very hungry teenage friends. Hmmm...maybe I need to start leaving some Pizza Hut coupons, around the house. LOL

But these fast food places are smart...many people grow up with fast food and never outgrow it...I guess it's the familiarity thing...or nostalgia..or who knows...maybe just fast and familiar???

My friend has worn out the drive-thru at the local Burger King, she is there so much, for her kids. They should honor her, with a lane of her own.

Of the two trash burgers,Burger King is by far the lesser of two evils...I can tolerate the flame broiled taste!
