Please Don't Forget MEMORIAL day Fri, 05/25/07 8:17 PM (permalink)

Please remember what this weekend is all about while tossing down the brats and beer.

So many people have given thier lives so that we can enjoy the liberties most Americans take for granted. If you have no one close to you serving right now, when was the last time you really thought about the soldiers in Iraq and Afganistan?

Stop for a moment this weekend, thank a vet for their service to this country, and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of FREEDOM.

Explain to an indignant teenager (they're easy to find these days) that freedom is not FREE. Someone had to sacrifice their life in order for them to enjoy it.

Pay your respects. Say something. Do something. Make a difference.

Many people, I feel, do forget. I don't.

I was aware of your post, Paul. But out of respect to you I thought a general Memorial Day thread was appropriate. I can somewhat relate to your situation as I lost my Father 6 years ago on Memorial Day, found him sitting in his lazy boy.

Didn't want to give the impression of trying to take anything away from your loss by heading in a different direction on your thread.

God bless you, and all those with whom we share this remembrance.

Fellow dog, sorry I'm late responding to your post reminding us to honor our great military, particularly those who gave their lives in service to our country. Didn't see your message until now. Don't know how I missed it but I did. Please see Dickestep's post for my response regarding Memorial Day.
Maybe its appropriate I'm a day late. EVERY DAY IS A GOOD DAY TO PAY TRIBUTE TO OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN!!!
