Polish Food In Cleveland, Ohio

I had a good "stick to your ribs" meal at a Polish restaurant in Cleveland, last night.

Sokolowski's
1201 University Road
Cleveland, Ohio 44113

216-771-9236

Last night they featured sixteen entrees and good vegetables. I had a chocolate layer cake for dessert. My entree was Beer Battered Lake Erie Perch. $11.95.

I was with two others and everyone raved about the food there. Quality and taste were good.

Along with some other Roadfooders like BuddyRoadhouse and ChiTownDiner, I have been to Sokolowski's University Inn twice in the past few months. The quality and variety of the food is excellent. And the people who run the place could not be nicer. I think someone (and I'm pointing the finger at myself here) needs to send in a formal review of the place. It definitely deserves it!

Did you try the pierogies? They are as good as I have had anywhere!

I love Lake Erie perch(the small yellow fillets). Peppertree...was the breading heavy or light? I like mine on the light side but a lot of times beer battered is a heavier breading. Another good place for pierogies and Polish food is the Slavic Village Harvest festival(now known as "The Festival" on August 23,2008 on Fleet Avenue off of I-77. Good music and food as well as neighborhood restaurants.

I had lunch today at the Croatian National Home in Eastlake. Wonderful restaurant there called Dubrovnik Gardens. 34900 Lakeshore Blvd. Best cabbage rolls I have ever had. American food as well but you should check it out.

Since the discussion is of that part of the world, I found a Georgian (as in next to Russia) restaurant on Brigton Beach Avenue in Brooklyn. Has anyone been there?

Brighton Beach is a heavily Russian neighborhood.

Interesting! What is Georgian food like? I am assuming it is similar to Russian, but don't know for sure.
