I got great advice from CA folks about Glendora last month ...

I'm headed a bit south this time -- I'm flying into Ontario and don't plan to stray too far.

Any advice about good RF places in Pomona, Ontario area? Any good local bar/taverns?

I did a search of the archives. This is also another "not-the-center-of-the-roadfood-universe" candidate.

The Sundancer stays at the Residence Inn at the Ontario Airport for the NHRA races in February and November. Around the Ontario Mills shopping center, there are a phethora of places to enjoy although they are not necessarily roadfood type places, several of them are very good. It is a pretty good drive around the shopping center and you can pick and choose. There is a huge sports bar on the southeast corner of the center and their sides are great.

Fontana is right next door to Ontario. See this review of mine on Viva Villa. It's no more than 5 or 6 miles from the airport. In fact, it's right under the landing glide path. My review is the 6th post down.

Try Farmer Brothers. THere are a number of locations in the area.

Perhaps "The Mayor" will chime in here as this is his old neighborhood.

Poverty Pete mentioned the best Burgers in the area --Farmer Boys-- The one we enjoyed is also under the landing pattern for ONT. It is on Miliken just south of the 10 freeway. There is another next to the Quakes Baseball Stadium (the EPICENTER) on Foothill. Farmer Boys is a Burger Stand but it has great cheap breakfasts and uses china and silver not foam trays etc. Their FarmerBurger is a handfull and the Double Bacon Cheeseburger is almost as good. They make some very large and fresh salads if there are folks with you who want the rabbit food.

Al, 3 of us had excellent breakfasts this morning at the FB at Cherry and Slover. All of us were filled to capacity, and all it cost was $20.37, including drinks, and no tip necessary.

You place your order at the counter, then they bring you your china plated food. Nice touch.

                So far, so good.

I did Viva Villa within minutes of landing ... excellent.

I admit to being reluctant to go to Farmer Boys ... I went for breakfast, and it couldn't have been better. I'm adding it to my approved chains list.

I'm sitting here, in the rain at the race track and, if all goes well, I'll be back a one or the other for a late lunch.

                    Absolutly ...

Here was my wrap up from that trip:
                    http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6222

I had the Pastrami Dip and followed it up with a crueller.

It was excellent advice. Com to think of it there is a The Hat at Upland ...

I guess I am a bit late, but I would have recommended The Danson/Espiau's in Claremont. They pretty much do everything well, have sandwiches, burgers, huge salads and Mexican food. I LOVE their Mexican salad with a huge glob of cheese and that vinegar-dressing.

Glad you liked it. It's one of Fontana's best, and lucky me, I can walk there. What'd you order?

I had the fried pork platter. I kept getting up to try different salsas. Excellent.

The bad news for my fellow roadfooders is thatI'll be checking in quite a bit before my many trips.

That's not bad news. I've another one for you, actually two, if you're going to be around for another day or two.

Well ... I'll be back. Let us have 'um.

I was crushed when my travel agent told me I had to be on a 6:30 am flight -- I'd of done Farmer Boys agin for breakfast ... I usually get to one NASCAR event in Fontana.

I had another Pastrami Dip experience at The Hat today (11th and Central) ... and ... oh, by the way, NICE WEATHER ... I gotta get back to Seattle for some sunshine ... Daytona Beach on Sunday.

Both of them are on Foothil (Rt 66). The one in Fontana is El Lienzo Charro. Excellent Mole de Pollo.
The other place in in Upland, Rizza Pizza.

One more. A small cafe in Rancho Cucamonga called Nancy's Cafe. Great roadfood place,'50's theme. I'll be doing a write up on it soon. Nancy's Cafe, 9759 Arrow Route, Rancho Cucamonga

I have read the Mayor extoll the virtues of Farmer Boys both in threads and in a personal email. I am looking forward to my first visit there upon my arrival in ONT this April.

A good burger would do me good right about now.
