Popcorn!! Sun, 12/11/05 2:52 PM (permalink)
I just LOVVVVVVE popcorn...about two years ago I bought myself one of those Back to Basics poppers- the ones with the crank...Those things make
the GREATEST popcorn you will ever have ANYwhere - literally - when you are done you will have NO old maids....NONE...if you are using a decent corn of course- Orvilles works just fine thank you! Plus, the popcorn is as tender as any you will have-you can throw leftovers in a baggie, and it will be decent two days later!

Getting back to the popper, it is worth it to spend the extra $10 or so, and buy the stainless steel version- I bought the cheaper aluminum version, and and that one gets kind of banged up easy, plus it gets harder to clean as it gets used...but the stainless steel version ROCKS- easy to clean, and it looks like it will be much tougher down the road.

Another good thing is that you can use as little oil as you want - the stirring spreads what you have around nice and even...

This is HIGHLY recommended if you know a popcorn freak,or if you are one yourself.....you know I never plug anything here....but this is the best!

I agree Lou I have a Whirly Pop crank thru the handle popper that I have used hundreds of times. This popper is alum. and as you stated is harder to clean. Where did you get the stainless one?

      Thanks Gary

I've got two; one for popcorn and one for roasting green coffee beans. Truly a great product!

Thumbs up on the popper. We have never gotten a microwave so hand popped has always been the way to go in my household. I wasn't aware that they came in stainless steel. We have the aluminum version and once you burn the bottom it's tough to clean it up.

The aluminum models can be had for anywhere from $19-25...but you can get the sturdier, stainless steel for under $30 in some places....this is one item to comaprison shop online the prices vary so much!
