 "Pork in a Puppy" ???

"Pork in a Puppy" ??? Sat, 04/14/07 7:30 PM (permalink)
I was driving through Kinston,NC and saw signs for King's BBQ that said
" Pork in a Puppy ". I thought A BBQ Hushpuppy, anyone know the real
meaning of this ?? I might call them up and ask!!!

    I called King's and asked, instead of using a bun, it is BBQ put inside of a big hushpuppy. So now we all know!!!! I'll have to try one next time I visit Kinston.

      Barbara,do they encase the pork in raw hushpuppy batter and fry it ? Or,do they put the pork in a cooked hushpuppy ?

        I asked if they made a batter with pork in it, then fry it.The girl said they fry a big hushpuppy, then put in the BBQ. Sounds kinda good!!! I'd fry up two cornbread patties and put the BBQ between them.

            Don't know how that works, but you frequently get pork barbecue piled on top of a hoecake here in Nashville. Works especially well with the jalapeno-enhanced variety...
