wheregreggeats.com ? Perhaps the cow was born in Canada, raised in the U.S. and slaughtered in Mexico.

wheregreggeats.com ? I asked the store manager about that. He told me Publix beef comes from either Texas or Nebraska. According to him that is the result of some of the packaging the stores use. Publix is an employee owned company and one of the top ranked stores for customer satisfaction - I hope he was not BS'ing me. http://www.allbusiness.com/services/business-services/4527257-1.html In any event it was a very good steak.

John A.: I saw that sale and picked one up too, last Friday. Denise got the tenderloin, I got the strip, and Larry got the bone.

wheregreggeats.com ? I bought some Beef in Fry's, (Part of Kroger) in AZ and it was labeled the same way. Must be some new USDA Regulation if the product comes thru a major slaughtering plant that gets livestock from all 3 countries. They can't identify where each individual steer came from so they lump them all together. One label fits all. I'll bet it hurts beef sales in the Supermarkets. I know I seriously thought twice before I bought 2 roasts. They got me with the buy one get one free ad.

I bought (3) sirloin steaks on sale ($3.99 a lb) at Publix in Key Largo Florida last week.Seasoned and prepared well, the meat had NO taste. I asked the butcher several days later why the meat would have no taste and he looked at me like I was a moron. Rarely, but sometimes, this occurs. Everything looks and smells right, but no taste. By the way, I enjoy Publix and have seldom been disappointed with their products.

Usually what happens is when meat has been on the shelf and is near or has reached it's expiration date, they take it to the prep room and season it up and re-package it and get a few more days to move the product. A.K.A. putting lipstick on a pig! Longer shelf life = less flavor. I like Publix too! Wish we had them in AZ. When I visit my Daughter in TN, I always pick up some of their Seeded Jewish Rye Bread and fly it home with me!

Food - Don' t they have to put a little "R" if they rewrap it? I never pay attention to that..I always look for the most recent dated meat though. I do think they must put that "R" on it...

Maybe, perhaps I am a moron, that's why the sirloin was on sale. That being said, I have purchased many types of meat on sale and have been able to taste it.
