Portugese Sausage

One of the best things about Hawaii is the food - the islanders really know how to eat well. One of my favorite meals is Portugese Sausage and Eggs. This appears on almost all breakfast menues in the state. With a slight touch of chili added to the pork sausage, Portugese Sausage gives that certain zing to an otherwise boring breakfast. I usually eat the sausage with soy sauce, and most island restaurants serve white rice instead of potatoes with this combo.

Maybe its an acquired taste. Personally, I'd rather have the potatoes. It gets monotonous having rice at EVERY single meal. I was sad when I left Hawaii, but I can't say I miss the food.

I just picked up the other popular sausage there, loganisa----I believe it's a Philipino style. Not very spicy----on the sweet side----but very tasty. I made it with refried beans but I will definitely have to try it as a part of a Hawaiian breakfast. For dinner though, it was delicious.
